El 26 de junio, la Corte Suprema aprobó los matrimonios homosexuales con una votación de 5 a 4. El matrimonio gay fue aprobado sin limitaciones de donde reside la pareja. Además, la Corte Suprema indicó que los estados no pueden limitar los matrimonios a las parejas que consisten en el hombre y la mujer.
El principal argumento para la aprobación era la igualdad. Muchas personas en el país piensa que las parejas del mismo sexo deberían tener el mismo tratamiento legal que las parejas de distinto sexo.
“Es un gran paso adelante. Muchas parejas serán capaces de cumplir con su felicidad, tendrán los mismos derechos y nuestra nación se hará más fuerte “, dijo Nathaniel Jiménez, residente de Kansas City.
Para tomar la decisión final, el Tribunal Supremo utiliza la Enmienda 14 de la Constitución de Estados Unidos que se refiere a la igualdad.
En un mensaje a la nación y el mundo, el presidente estadounidense Barack Obama publicó en su cuenta de twitter, “Este fallo es una victoria para los amigos, las familias, y los organizadores que lucharon incansablemente durante años para la igualdad de matrimonio. #el Amor gana. “

Supreme Court approves gay marriages

On June 26, the Supreme Court approved gay marriages with a vote of 5 to 4. The gay marriage was approved without limitations of where the couple resides. In addition, the Supreme Court indicated that states can’t limit the marriages to couples consisting of man and woman.
The main argument for the approval was equality. Many people in the country think that same-sex couples should have the same legal treatment as opposite-sex couples.
“It is a great step forward. Many couples will be able to fulfill its happiness, they will have the same rights and our nation will become stronger,” said Nathaniel Jimenez, a Kansas City resident.
To make the final decision, the Supreme Court used the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that refers to equality.
On a message to the nation and the world, U.S. President Barack Obama posted on his twitter account, “This ruling is a victory for friends, families, and organizers who fought tirelessly for years for marriage equality. #LoveWins .”
As a reaction to the vote many citizens showed its happiness towards the new rule. User @WipeHomophobia twitted, “It’s only a matter of time before #LoveWins worldwide.”
