Earth Day (April 22) is a time to celebrate nature’s beauty and learn new ways to help conserve it. In the Kansas City area, there are various opportunities for you and your family to celebrate and learn, such as festivals, shows and classes.
Check out some of the area events you and your family can attend, according to KC Parent Magazine:
*Celebrate Our Earth Week at Paradise Park: This celebration began on Sunday (April 15) and will run through Earth Day at Paradise Park in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The event consists of more than 20 educational and interactive areas for the whole family, including a water table, the KCPT Learning Room and an art studio.
*Party for the Planet: The Kansas City Zoo will hold a grand celebration for Earth Day, starting this Saturday (April 21) and concluding on Earth Day. Mark your calendars and make it a family fun day at the zoo.
*Go Green at Burr Oak Woods Nature Center: Located in Blue Springs, Mo., Burr Oak Woods is the place for you and your family to learn about the wonders of nature, and how to preserve it and keep it clean. The center has plant and animal exhibits, and conservation topics to further expand your knowledge on preserving the natural beauty around us.
In addition, some area restaurants have a strong “farm-to-table” food policy that you and your family can enjoy during Earth Day. They include Cafe Gratitude, Eden Allen Vegetarian Cafe, FÜD and The Farmhouse.
