We have seen many closures and other changes during this crisis. USCIS has closed its offices to the public. Immigration Court continues only for detained immigrants. Much needed help during the crisis will not count against you as a Public Charge.
USCIS offices are closed to the public for fingerprinting appointments and interviews. They said this will last until April 1st, but I expect that they will be closed much longer than that. If you had an appointment for this time, it will be rescheduled for later. It is possible that they will re-use previously taken fingerprints for applications such as DACA. They have not yet announced how that will be handled. Naturalization ceremonies have also been cancelled for the coming weeks and will be rescheduled later.
ICE “la migra” were out in full force at the beginning of the quarantine. We know many people were detained in Olathe and Mid-Missouri. Now, ICE says they will back off and only pursue criminal immigrants during this crisis. The immigration courts have cancelled all Master Calendar and Trial dates except for immigrants who are detained. These court dates will also be rescheduled at a later date. We are pushing the government to release detained immigrants immediately as they are at risk of infection.
Many are worried about the Public Charge rule in seeking medical assistance and economic help during this time. The government has said that any COVID-19 related care/assistance will not count against immigrants in obtaining their permanent residency.
Immigrants who are work authorized are eligible for Unemployment Insurance under the same rules as US citizens. If you have a work permit under DACA/TPS/adjustment of status or other program, you can apply for this help. It does not count against you for Public Charge as it is a type of insurance.

COVID-19 e Inmigración
Hemos visto muchos cierres y otros cambios durante esta crisis. USCIS ha cerrado sus oficinas al público. La Corte de Inmigración continúa sólo para inmigrantes detenidos. La muy necesaria ayuda durante la crisis no contará en su contra como una carga pública.
Las oficinas de USCIS están cerradas al público para citas de huellas digitales y entrevistas. Dijeron que esto durará hasta el 1 de abril, pero espero que estén cerrados mucho más tiempo que eso. Si tenía una cita para este momento, se reprogramará para más adelante. Es posible que reutilicen las huellas digitales tomadas previamente para aplicaciones como DACA. Todavía no han anunciado cómo se manejará eso. Las ceremonias de naturalización también se han cancelado para las próximas semanas y se reprogramarán más adelante.
