El jefe de policía de Ferguson, Mo., Thomas Jackson, ha negado en repetidas ocasiones que está siendo despedido, pero eso no está deteniendo a los medios de prensa de reportar su derrocamiento.
En virtud de un informa obtenido por CNN que está circulando entre los principales medios de comunicación, el jefe de policía del condado de St. Louis se haría cargo de la administración de la fuerza policial de Ferguson. Al cierre de esta edición, miércoles (29 de Oct.), se especulaba que el cambio podría suceder tan pronto como la primera semana de noviembre.
“La animosidad que existía en Ferguson … (comenzó) mucho antes del tiroteo a Mike Brown – justificado o no”, dijo el analista legal de CNN, Mark O’Mara. “Así que, lamentablemente, el liderazgo en el departamento de policía tiene que cambiar. Y si él es como el chivo expiatorio para conseguir que esto comience, va a tener que ser”.
La oferta se espera en anticipación a una decisión final sobre el tiroteo de Brown, un adolescente afroamericano desarmado. Un gran jurado está deliberando si deben o no presentarse cargos en contra de Darren Wilson, el oficial blanco que le disparó a Brown.
Jackson y su departamento han enfrentado repetidas críticas sobre su manejo de los disturbios públicos después del tiroteo. Los eventos han requerido la intervención tanto del gobierno estatal como federal.
El estado envió a la Patrulla de Caminos de Missouri cuando no pudieron contenerse las protestas. El gobierno federal está investigando al departamento de policía y el incidente.

Firing of Ferguson chief is expected
by Jesus Gomez LopezFerguson, Mo., Police Chief Thomas Jacksoa has repeatedly denied he’s being fired, but that’s not stopping news outlets from reporting his ouster.
Under a report obtained by CNN that’s being circulated among major media outlets, St. Louis County’s police chief would take over the management of Ferguson’s police force. At press time Wednesday (Oct. 29), it was speculated the change could happen as early as the first week of November.
“The animosity that existed in Ferguson … (started) way before Mike Brown’s shooting – justified or not,” CNN legal analyst Mark O’Mara said. “So unfortunately, the leadership in the police department has to change. And if he’s sort of a sacrificial lamb to get this started, it’s going to have to be.”
The offering is expected in advance of a final ruling on the shooting of Brown, an unarmed African-American teen. A grand jury is deliberating on whether or not to press charges against Darren Wilson, the white officer who shot Brown.
Jackson and his department have faced repeated criticism over their handling of the public unrest following the shooting. The events have required intervention by both the state and federal governments.
The state sent in the Missouri Highway Patrol when the protests failed to be contained. The federal government is investigating the police department and the incident.
