El 5 de octubre, Estados Unidos firmó el acuerdo de la Asociación Trans-Pacífica (TPP) con 11 países, entre ellos México, Perú, Chile y Vietnam.
Según un artículo del New York Times, el acuerdo fue firmado después de 10 años de negociaciones y fue fuertemente impulsado por el presidente Obama.
De acuerdo al Representante de Comercio de Estados Unidos (USTR), el acuerdo está diseñado para promover los negocios estadounidenses mediante el apoyo a los productos fabricados en Estados Unidos. Además, el acuerdo eliminará tarifas, promoverá empleo y apoyará a los agricultores.
“El TPP creará más trabajos de fabricación y servicios de negocios con los salarios más altos,” dijo la Cámara de Comercio de Estados Unidos por medio de Twitter.
El Presidente Obama dijo que el acuerdo impulsará la economía global, creará más empleos en Estados Unidos y ayudará a las empresas a ser más competitivas. Sin embargo, no todo el mundo está convencido de que el presidente tiene razón.
“La incompetencia de nuestro gobierno actual está más allá de la comprensión,” dijo el candidato presidencial republicano Donald Trump por Twitter.”El TPP es un pésimo negocio.”

U.S. gov’t hoping TPP will promote American-made products

On Oct. 5, the United States signed the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement with 11 countries, including Mexico, Peru, Chile and Vietnam.
According to a New York Times story, the agreement was signed after 10 years of negotiations and was strongly pushed by President Obama.
The agreement is designed to promote American business by supporting American-made products, according to the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). In addition, the agreement will eliminate tariffs and quotas, and promote jobs and support farmers.
“(The) TPP will create more manufacturing and business service jobs with higher wages,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce tweeted recently.
President Obama has said the agreement will promote the global economy, create more jobs in America and help companies be more competitive. But not everyone is convinced the president is right.
“The incompetence of our current administration is beyond comprehension,” Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump tweeted. “(The) TPP is a terrible deal.”
