Muchos de nosotros creemos que Hillary Clinton será la próxima Presidenta de los Estados Unidos. Pero si ella llega a la presidencia, quien será el vice?
Han habido muchas especulaciones acerca de quién será, si es que ella llega a ganar la nominación Demócrata. Aquellos que suelen ser nombrados son – la Senadora Elizabeth Warren, el ex gobernador de Maryland Martin O’Malley, y el actual vicepresidente Joe Biden.
Pero no hay razón para perder las esperanzas en un Vicelatino.
Un nombre que sigue tomando fuerza es el del Secretario de HUD, Julián Castro, quien es el ex alcalde de San Antonio, Texas. Su carisma ha ayudado a este joven conseguir en poco tiempo lo que algunos no logran en toda una vida. En el 2012, se convirtió en el primer hispano en presentar el discurso principal en la Convención Nacional Demócrata.
Elegir a una persona “no-blanca” para vice, sería una muy buena decisión de parte de Clinton. De esta manera se aseguraría los votos de las minorías que eligieron a Obama como Presidente en dos oportunidades.
Al elegir un latino como compañero de boleta, Clinton demostraría qué tan importante son para ella los problemas qué enfrentan los latinos en el país. Esta acción impactaría el voto latino – un gran grupo de votantes en el país.
Si éstas nos son razones suficientes para convencer a Hillary, aún hay más. A la gente le encanta los “primeros.” El primer presidente Afroamericano, la primer presidente mujer, y porque no, el primer Vicepresidente latino.
Castro sería el primer vicelatino y tendría la puerta abierta para eventualmente ser el primer Presidente Latino ya que muchos consiguen la nominación a la presidencia luego de servir como Vicepresidente.
Estoy preparado para que la comunidad latina esté bien representada en Washington, D.C. Depende de Hillary de hacer esto posible y si ella es tan lista como creo que los es, el próximo Vicepresidente será sin ninguna duda latino.

Many of us believe Hillary Clinton is the most likely candidate to succeed Barack Obama as U.S. president. But if she becomes president, who’ll be her vice president?
There has been much speculation about who Clinton’s running mate will be, should she receive the Democratic nomination for president. Those with the inside track are U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former candidate and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, and current Vice President Joe Biden.
There’s still reason to hope for a Latino vice president.
One name that keeps popping up as a potential running mate is Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro, who’s also a former mayor of San Antonio. Castro’s charming, charismatic personality has helped accelerate his political career. In 2012, he was the first Hispanic to deliver the keynote address at a Democratic National Convention. The feedback and reviews he received were outstanding.
It would be wise for Clinton to choose a non-Caucasian as her vice president to secure many of the minority votes that helped Obama get elected – twice. Having a Latino running mate would show how important Latino issues are to her. That would go a long way in the country’s immense Latino community – a huge voting demographic.
To make the idea sound even more attractive to Clinton, she should consider that Americans love a “first timer.” Whether it’s the first African American president, the first female president or (hint, hint) the first Latino vice president, Americans love something new.
Castro could potentially be the first Latino vice president. That, in turn, would give him an open door to become the first Latino president, as many vice presidents run for president after their vice presidencies end, especially if they’ve served under a popular president.
I’m ready to see the Latino community well-represented in Washington, D.C. So how about it, Hillary? Are you ready (and wise enough) to choose a Latino running mate?
