Gran fuego encendido en apartamentos de Overland Park

El lunes (20 de marzo), un incendio se suscitó en CityPlace Apartments en Overland Park, Kans., y se extendió a los hogares cercanos.
El incidente, que tuvo suceso en College Avenue y Switzer Road, se determinó que fue accidental, reportaron múltiples fuentes de noticias el martes (21 de marzo). Podría haber resultado del trabajo de la soldadura que encendió un material de madera que estaba cerca, según los investigadores.
No se reportaron lesiones mayores o muertes. Sin embargo, tres bomberos fueron trasladados al hospital.
Descrito como  “la mayor emergencia de incendios que alguna vez llegó a la ciudad” por Fox 4 News, el incidente requirió evacuaciones. Se aconsejó a los residentes mantenerse alejados de sus hogares mientras los bomberos intentaban controlar el incendio masivo.
Aproximadamente de 22 a 25 hogares cercanos se incendiaron de la llamas iniciales. Según KCTV5, residentes cercanos también fueron “aconsejados para rociar bajo sus hogares” para evitar nuevos incendios. De ocho a diez de los hogares fueron dañados significativamente, según una declaración dada por el Oficial de Información Pública del Departamento de Bomberos de Overland Park, Jason Rhodes, a KCTV5.
Se recibieron más de 400 llamadas al despacho en el momento del incendio y se enviaron 50 unidades de incendios a la escena. También había equipos de gestión de emergencias que proporcionaron ayuda y apoyo a los primeros que respondieron, según Fox 4 News.


Massive fire ignited at Overland Park apartments

On Monday (March 20), a fire broke out at CityPlace Apartments in Overland Park, Kan., that spread to nearby homes.
The incident, which took place at College Avenue and Switzer Road, was determined to be accidental, multiple news sources reported on Tuesday (March 21). It might’ve resulted from welding work that ignited nearby wood material, according to investigators.
No major injuries or deaths were reported. However, three firefighters were taken to the hospital.
Described as the “biggest fire emergency to ever hit the town” by Fox 4 News, the incident required evacuations. Residents were advised to keep away from their homes as firefighters attempted to control the massive fire.
Approximately 22-25 nearby homes caught fire from the initial complex flames. According to KCTV5, nearby residents also were “advised to spray down their homes” to prevent further fires from possibly igniting. Eight to 10 of the homes were significantly damaged, according to a statement given by Overland Park Fire Department Public Information Officer Jason Rhodes to KCTV5.
More than 400 dispatch calls were received at the time of the fire and 50 fire units were sent to the scene. There also were emergency management teams that provided help and support to the first responders, according to Fox 4 News.
