In 1945 they began to build large hotels with casinos and in the 60’s many of these were acquired by large business corporations and built many others.

If we talk about accommodation in Las Vegas you will realize that it is quite economical compared to other major cities. To move within the city the best option is public transportation because the tourist area of Las Vegas is very small (5 km long), but due to the climate of the city is not so easy to do it on foot. A beautiful show where more than 1,200 jets of water move to the rhythm of the songs and are played throughout the day, a repertoire of more of 30 songs a day and that lasts the same time as the song. From distance, you can also see the spectacle of the Mirage hotel volcano which at night throws lava and balls of fire at 4 meters high every hour and with the sound of real volcanoes. The best time to enjoy this boulevard is at nightfall when the shows and colorful lights take over the city.
Caesars Palace, this huge hotel is one of the most famous in the world and has more than 4,000 thousand rooms. They offer great shows at night in its Coliseo Theater that has an audience level of more than 4,000 spectators. The most famous shows which they present are those of Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Rod Steward and Elton John.
MGM Grand is the largest hotel in the city and until 2006 it was the largest in the world. It hosts the most important boxing matches in the world. It has more than 7 thousand rooms, 5 swimming pools, 3 Jacuzzis and an artificial river like the ones in the water parks. It offers many pay shows, one of the most important is that of the magician David Copperfield, who has crossed the Chinese wall, made the Statue of Liberty disappear and has flown over the Grand Canyon. Without a doubt, a show that you should not miss, the price of the show is $70.
Fremont Street is the second most important street in the city and for many years it was the main street. The old casinos are located in that area and many movies from the XX century were filmed there. It is located in the old part of the city and nearby hotels and casinos have tried to reactivate tourism in this area by making the show “Experience of Fremont Street” available to all. Which offers representations of scenes that evoke the city from its huge screen with more than 12 million LEDs and 220 speakers. Bienvenidos turistas, esta edición nos toca hablar de la ciudad que lleva los motes de “la ciudad del pecado” y de “la ciudad de las luces”, que además es uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes de nuestro país, nos referimos a Las Vegas, Nevada. La ciudad fue fundada en 1905 e incorporada como ciudad en 1911; Cuenta con una población menor a 1 millones de habitantes, mientras que su área metropolitana supera el 1 millón y medio de habitantes.
En 1931 se legalizó el juego en los casinos y esto impulsó el crecimiento y la fama mundial de la ciudad. Este mismo año se inició la construcción de la Presa Hoover, gracias a la influencia de los trabajadores de la construcción y a sus familias se evitó una calamidad económica durante la Gran Depresión. En 1945 se empezaron a construir los grandes hoteles con casinos de juegos de azar y para los años 60’s muchos de estos fueron adquiridos por grandes corporaciones de negocios y construidos muchos otros.
Los vuelos redondos de Kansas a Las Vegas tienen un costo promedio de $200 y suelen contar con 1 escala, aunque podrás encontrar también vuelos directos; buscando tus vuelos con anticipación podrás encontrarlos desde $100 redondos en ciertas fechas. Si hablamos de hospedaje en Las Vegas te darás cuenta de que es bastante económico a comparación de otras ciudades importantes, los costos promedio de habitaciones en hoteles 3 estrellas son de $50 la noche y en uno 5 estrellas de $140. Para moverse dentro de la ciudad la mejor opción es el transporte público, debido a que la zona turística de las vegas es muy reducida, de apenas 5 km de largo, pero debido al clima de la ciudad no es tan sencillo recorrerlos sin problemas a pie, los taxis tienen tarifas económicas, aunque si deseas rentar un automóvil para conocer otros sitios cercanos a la ciudad ten en cuenta que los estacionamientos de los grandes hoteles son gratuitos por lo que podrás ahorrarte todo ese dinero. Ahora toca hablar de la comida, otra cosa que es sumamente económica en esta ciudad, podrás encontrar buffets en prácticamente todos los hoteles, los más económicos desde $6 y en los hoteles más lujosos por $20 e incluso buffets para un día completo por $30; si lo tuyo no son los buffets también algunos hoteles cuentan con restaurantes tradicionales con platillos que rondan los $12.
Aquí te dejo algunos de los espectáculos más relevantes de esta glamorosa ciudad así como algunos lugares para conocer:
Las Vegas Boulevard, es la calle más conocida de toda la ciudad, en ella se encuentran los hoteles más lujosos y famosos de la ciudad. Lo que la hace una de las avenidas más fotografiadas y visitadas en el mundo. Además desde aquí podrás disfrutar de algunos espectáculos que ofrecen ciertos hoteles, como las fuentes del Bellagio, un hermoso espectáculo de más de 1,200 chorros de agua que se mueven al ritmo de las canciones que se tocan a lo largo del día, un repertorio de más de 30 canciones al día y que dura el mismo tiempo que la canción; también podrás ver a lo lejos espectáculo del volcán del hotel Mirage, el cual por la noche cada hora lanza lava y bolas de fuego a 4 metros de altura y con sonido de volcanes reales. La hora más ideal para disfrutar de este boulevard es al caer la noche, momento en el que los espectáculos y las luces de colores se apoderan de la ciudad.
Caesars Palace, este enorme hotel es uno de los más famosos del mundo, cuenta con más de 4,000 mil habitaciones y cuenta con grandes espectáculos por las noches en su Teatro Coliseo que tiene un nivel de audiencia de más de 4,000 espectadores, los espectáculos más famosos que presentan son los de Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Rod Steward y Elton John.
MGM Grand, es el hotel más grande de la ciudad y fue hasta el 2006 el más grande del mundo, aquí se celebran los combates de boxeo más importantes del mundo. Cuenta con más de 7 mil habitaciones, 5 piscinas, 3 jacuzzis y un río artificial como el de los parques acuáticos, cuenta con muchos espectáculos de paga, uno de los más importantes es el del mago David Copperfield el cual a atravesado la muralla china, ha hecho desaparecer la estatua de la libertad y ha volado sobre el gran cañón, sin duda un espectáculo que no debes perderte, el costo del espectáculo es de $70.
La Calle Fremont, ésta es la segunda calle más importante de la ciudad y por muchos años fue la principal, en ella se encuentran los antiguos casinos, aquí se llevaron las filmaciones de muchas películas en el siglo XX. Se encuentra en la parte antigua de la ciudad y los hoteles y casinos cercanos han intentado reactivar el turismo en esta zona poniendo al alcance de todos el espectáculo “Experiencia de la Calle Fremont”, el cual se trata de representaciones de escenas que evocan a la ciudad por su enorme pantalla con más de 12 millones de leds y 220 altavoces. Aunque esta zona es gratuita si tu tiempo de estadía es reducido te recomiendo que lo dejes para el final de tu recorrido.
