Wonderful World: Discover Nashville

By Tom Sawyer

Welcome tourists! In this edition we have to talk about the capital of Tennessee, known by many as the City of Music. We are talking about Nashville. Founded in 1779 under the name Fort Nashborough in honor of a hero from the Independence War, Nashville has a population density of 650,000 inhabitants while its metropolitan area surpasses 1.6 million inhabitants.
Due to its neoclassic architecture, it was known as the Athens of the South, although right now is easier to identify under the name of the City of Music because it is the world capital of country music. It is here where pop, rock, gospel, bluegrass, jazz and several other music genres are developed, having more than 120 places where to enjoy live music.
Round-trip flights from Kansas to Nashville have an average cost of $300 and, though you can find direct flights, most of them have one layover. The best way to get around Nashville is by bus, having more than 50 routes that go through every part of the city, although renting a car could be a good option to get around the town too. Traffic and lack of public parking make it very complicated to use this mean of transportation effectively. Lodging in Nashville is more expensive than you might imagine in a small American city, with an average cost of $110 per night in 3-star hotels and $300 in 4- and 5-star hotels. The cuisine of Nashville is the classic of any southern city, with a well-known spicy fried chicken, as well as delicious biscuits to accompany it along with the variety of soups and purees that are prepared. The average cost of a full meal is $14.
The places you should not miss during your next visit to Nashville are:

*The Parthenon: it is the only exact replica of the Parthenon of Athens in the world. It is mainly due to this building that was previously known to the city as the Athens of the South. It has a reproduction of the golden statue of Athena Parthenon 13 meters high, an art gallery and an information center. It was built in 1897 for a centennial exhibition but due to the success obtained with its creation it was decided not to be demolished after it, but instead the plaster and wood were changed to steel and concrete. Entrance fee is $6.
*Country Music Hall of Fame: it is the headquarters of country music since 1967. It is located in downtown Nashville and is undoubtedly one of the most important tourist attractions in the city. In this museum, you can find a big number of interactive touch screens that will help you enjoy video clips, concert photos and artifacts of the most famous of the musical genre. You can also enjoy the wall of fame that is full of gold records that have been achieved by all these country bands.
*Grand Ole Opry: it is the best stage to enjoy a country music live concert. In each show, you can enjoy not only of an artist, but also of a variety of eight to more artists that give quality shows daily. Depending on access you buy, you can even go on stage, enter the dressing rooms of the artists and receive the autographs of many of them.
*Printers Alley: in this place you can enjoy a great variety of bars where blues and jazz groups perform to play their harmonious melodies. In addition to that, you can also find a wide variety of karaoke bars if your thing is amateur singing.
*Whiskey distilleries: you can enjoy different whiskey distilleries both in the city center and nearby. The Peachtree and Corsair Artisan are the distilleries that are located in the heart of the city, but on the outskirts of it there is the distillery of the most famous brand of whiskey worldwide, Jack Daniels, where in addition to tasting whiskey, you can buy personalized bottles of your favorite beverage.
Without more for the moment, I say goodbye, not before wishing you have an excellent adventure. Greetings and have a safe trip.

Conoce Nashville
