KC Chiefs come out on top for a nail-biting win against the Las Vegas Raiders Week 5

Monday night football was as exciting as ever with the Chiefs ending up with a in, but by a narrow one point.
The Chiefs got off to a slow start against the Raiders, who dominated the Chiefs on all fronts the first half of the game. The Raiders took an early lead with a touchdown pass to wide open receiver Dante Adams. The Chiefs could not respond on the next drive with a missed field goal opportunity by Matthew Wright, while Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is still out for an ankle injury. The Raiders scored another easy touchdown pass also in the first quarter to secure a 14-0 lead. The Raiders then scored a field goal for a 17-0 lead. Patrick Mahomes was able to find Travis Kelce for a passing touchdown, the Chiefs first score of the evening. Wright redeemed himself with a 59-yd franchise record field goal to help the Chiefs close the gap in the score.
Prior to halftime, the Chiefs became victim to a questionable roughing the passer flag against Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones. What appeared as a sac fumble recovery by Jones, ended up as a 15-yard penalty to give the Raiders yet another field goal to make the halftime score 20-10 Raiders.
The iffy call on Chris Jones ignited the fans and the Chiefs players alike. After the game, Mahomes said the call helped “build the toughness” the Chiefs needed to stay focused. Kelce added the penalty contributed to “build the beast” as the Chiefs came out strong in the second half of the game. Coach Andy Reid was hot and vocal on the sidelines and said he “got it off his chest” and moved on. The call may not have been in Chiefs favor, but the momentum of the game shifted to the Chiefs after the penalty.
The Chiefs passing game did not work well early in the game, but in the 2nd quarter they got into a groove and started running and moving the ball down the field. Mahomes found Kelce three more times for a Monday night football record: four touchdown catches for a 30-29 victory.
The Raiders had a chance to take the lead, but a collision between two Raiders receivers, Hunter Renfrow and Davante Adams, left the Raiders mad and storming off the field.
Patrick Mahomes had 292 yards and looked like the MVP once again.
Next week, the Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills in week 6 on October 16th at Arrowhead.
