SexTrafficking

Sex trafficking victim trying to create awareness

Karla Jacinto is sharing her tragic story with the world.
The Mexican national wants to create awareness about sex trafficking by telling the world what she experienced as a sex trafficking victim. Jacinto, who has shared her story with various media outlets around the world, estimates she was raped around 43,200 times and was forced to have sex with dozens of men every day.
Abused at age 5 by a relative, Jacinto was 12 when a trafficker took her with him. Jacinto has described him as someone who approached her while he was waiting for the subway in Mexico City. Impressed by him, she left with him one day.
For three months, Jacinto was living the dream. She was being loved, spoiled and receiving new clothes. Then, she realized something was wrong. Jacinto started noticing her boyfriend’s cousins were bringing young girls constantly to their home. Eventually, she was put to “work” by her own boyfriend.
“He started telling me everything I had to do: the positions, how much I … (needed) to charge, the things I had to do with the client and for how long, how I was to treat them and how I had to talk to them, so that they would give me more money,” Jacinto was quoted by CNN as saying.
For four years, Jacinto lived in a world of horror and panic. Sometimes, she was forced to have sex with 30 men a day, she recalled. She even got pregnant and wasn’t allowed to see her baby for one year.
In 2008, Jacinto’s nightmare ended, when she was rescued during a police operative in Mexico City. Since the day of her rescue, she has traveled the world, trying to create awareness about sex trafficking.
