Taquería Silva’s seguirá sirviendo sus platos mexicanos conocidos, a pesar de un incendio el 19 de diciembre, que destruyó su local en la calle 18 en Kansas City, Mo., según la dueña Angélica Silva.
Silva dijo que ella y su familia continuarán vendiendo comida en frente del local incendiado en su lonchera (camión de comida) hasta que encuentren una nueva ubicación. Ella pide a sus clientes seguir mostrando su apoyo como su familia y visitándolos hasta que encuentren una nueva ubicación.
Según Silva, su negocio llevaba en este lugar “casi seis años.”
“Empezamos con mis hermanos”, recordó. “Pero después, nos separamos y sólo era yo la que estaba a cargo del restaurante.”
El edificio de la Taquería Silva’s fue uno de los cuatro edificios destruidos en el incendio. Silva dijo que el incendio comenzó tres edificios detrás del restaurante. Cuando llegó al restaurante, ya era demasiado tarde para hacer algo.
De acuerdo con informes de la policía, a las 9:45 pm el 19 de diciembre, un cuerpo fue encontrado en uno de los edificios. Silva dijo que era la persona responsable del incendio.
“El dueño de uno de los edificios dejaba que un hombre durmiera y viviera allí,” dijo Silva. “El hombre trató de prender algo para calentar el lugar – y, al parecer, se quedó dormido y el fuego comenzó …. él murió allí.”

Taqueria Silva’s will stay in business after fire

Taqueria Silva’s will continue serving its well-known Mexican dishes, despite a Dec. 19 fire that destroyed its location on 18th Street in Kansas City, Mo., according to owner Angelica Silva.
Silva said she and her family would continue to sell food in front of the burned down building in their food truck until they find a new location. She encourages diners to continue showing their support as the family seeks a new building.
According to Silva, her business was based at the 18th Street location “for almost six years.”
“We started with my brothers,” she recalled. “But then, we separated and it was only me who was in charge of the restaurant there.”
The Taqueria Silva’s building was among four buildings destroyed in the fire. Silva said the fire started three buildings behind the restaurant. When it reached the restaurant, it was too late to do anything.
According to police reports, at 9:45 p.m. on Dec. 19, a body was found in one of the buildings. Silva said it was the person responsible for the fire.
“The owner of one of the buildings let him (the man) sleep and live there,” Silva said. “The man tried to turn on something to warm up the place – and apparently, he fell asleep and the fire started…. He died there.”
