Varias organizaciones a favor de los inmigrantes están preparando protestas para pedirle al presidente Barack Obama detener las deportaciones y redadas de los inmigrantes indocumentados.
De acuerdo con las estadísticas de varias fuentes, más de 2.5 millones de inmigrantes han sido deportados durante el período de Obama en la presidencia -la mayoría de ellos con récords criminales. Además recientemente, The Washington Post publicó una historia diciendo que el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) iniciaría un nuevo programa de deportación.
Además, la organización pro inmigrante America’s Voice reclamó recientemente en su sitio de la red que DHS estaba planeando una “serie de redadas” para situar a familias de Centroamérica que buscan refugio en Estados Unidos de la violencia en sus países respectivos.
“Es una vergüenza que la administración de Obama se escondiera detrás de sus “prioridades de ejecución” para justificar la redadas y deportación de padres, madres, niños y bebés hacia el tumulto y violencia del cual ellos se escaparon”, dijo David Leopoldo. “Ellos no son las prioridades de ejecución; ellos son refugiados”.
Sin embargo, el DHS no ha confirmado los más recientes reportes de deportación. Además, ha listado sus prioridades de deportación como sigue:
Mayor prioridad: inmigrantes que son considerados una amenaza nacional.
Segunda prioridad: inmigrantes que han incumplido las leyes de inmigración múltiples veces, incluyendo a los que tienen récords extensos de cruces ilegales en la frontera.
Tercera prioridad: inmigrantes acusados de conducir en estado de ebriedad y otras acusaciones serias, incluyendo violencia intrafamiliar y robo.
Cuarta prioridad: inmigrantes con una orden final de deportación con fecha posterior al 1º de enero del 2014.

Organizations to protest Obama’s deportation and raid policies

Several pro-immigrant organizations are preparing demonstrations to ask U.S. President Barack Obama to stop deporting and allowing raids on undocumented immigrants.
According to statistics from various sources, more than 2.5 million immigrants have been deported during Obama’s time in office – most of them with criminal records. And recently, The Washington Post published a story saying the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would start a new deportation program. Moreover, the pro-immigrant organization America’s Voice recently claimed on its Web site that a “series of raids” were being planned by the DHS to round up families from Central America who seek refuge in the United States from violence in their respective homelands.
“It’s shameful that the Obama administration would hide behind its ‘enforcement priorities’ to justify the roundup and deportation of fathers, mothers, children and babies to the very turmoil and violence from which they (have) fled,” immigration David Leopoldo said. “They are not enforcement priorities; they are refugees.”
However, the DHS hasn’t confirmed the latest deportation reports. In addition, it has listed its deportation priorities as follows:
Top priority: Immigrants who are considered a national threat.
Second priority: Immigrants who’ve broken immigration laws multiple times, including those with extensive records of illegal border crossings.
Third priority: Immigrants charged with DUI and other serious charges, including domestic abuse and robbery.
Fourth priority: Immigrants with a final deportation order dated after Jan. 1, 2014.
