El 22 de enero, después de nueve meses de remodelación y mejoras, la biblioteca del condado de Johnson (Kan.) Central Resource ha reabierto.
Con la remodelación de la biblioteca, el estudio MakerSpace es seis veces más grande que la anterior, donde las familias, los estudiantes y otros visitantes pueden usar la impresora 3D, utilizar varios programas de software para el diseño y la ingeniería, y el uso de otros equipos de estudio.
Además, la biblioteca renovada ofrece más computadoras, salas de estudio y conferencias adicionales, más lugares accesibles para las personas que traen sus propios dispositivos puedan cargar la bateria y una librería. Otras mejoras incluyen un sistema de calefacción y acondicionamiento del sistema actualizado, mejora de los baños y el diseño de la biblioteca renovada.
La biblioteca de Overland Park recibió el apoyo de la comunidad y donaciones corporativas para hacer la remodelación posible. El proyecto de remodelación se terminó a tiempo y dentro del presupuesto.
Al parecer, por el alto volumen de visitas a las bibliotecas, el gobierno del condado tiene más planes para renovar el resto de sus bibliotecas a lo largo del año. Según una encuesta de la comunidad del condado de Johnson en el 2015, casi el 70 por ciento de los residentes del condado informó que han visitando una sucursal de la biblioteca en el último año. La Biblioteca Central Resource recibe aproximadamente más de 1000 visitas al dia.

The JoCo library branch reopens

On Jan. 22, after nine months of remodeling and improvements, the Johnson County (Kan.) Library-Central Resource Library reopened.
With the remodeling, the library’s MakerSpace is six times the size of the previous one, where families, students and other visitors can check out the 3D printer, use various software programs for design and engineering, and use other studio equipment.
In addition, the revamped library offers more computers, additional studying and conference rooms, more electric outlets for people bringing their own devices and a bookstore. Other improvements include an upgraded heating and conditioning system, improved restrooms and revamped library layout.
The Overland Park library received community support and corporate donations to make the remodeling possible. The remodeling project was finished on time and under budget.
Prompted, it seems, by patron engagement with the library system, the county government has more plans to revamp the rest of its libraries throughout the year. According to a 2015 Johnson County community survey, nearly 70 percent of county residents reported visiting a library branch within the past year. The Central Resource Library alone receives 1,000-plus visitors daily.
