Fidel Castro nunca se reunió con Barack Obama durante la reciente visita del Presidente de Estados Unidos a Cuba.
En su lugar, el ex líder cubano le escribió una carta al presidente Obama.
Recientemente, el periódico Granma publicó una carta de Castro dirigida a Obama. Bajo el encabezado “Hermano Obama”, Castro utilizó la carta para criticar las opiniones del Presidente norteamericano. Él citó textualmente a Obama, quien dio un discurso en la televisión nacional de Cuba:
“Este el momento, ahora, de olvidar el pasado, dejar el pasado atrás. Miremos juntos el futuro, un futuro de esperanza. No será fácil, habrá retos, y debemos dar tiempo; pero mi permanencia aquí me da más esperanza de lo que podemos hacer juntos como amigos, familia, vecinos, unidos”.
Castro escribió que casi le dio un infarto cuando escuchó al presidente Obama decir esas palabras. También escribió que él rechazaba la idea de que Cuba necesitara de Estados Unidos. Cuba puede producir alimentos y prosperidad económica para sus ciudadanos por sí misma” declaró él. Castro también criticó a Obama por hablar de la revolución cubana y su situación.
“No necesitamos nada del imperio”, declaraba la carta de Fidel Castro en conclusión.
Desde que la carta se publicó, muchas personas han reaccionado en oposición a los comentarios de Castro.
Obama visitó Cuba esperando ayudar a crear una mejor relación entre Estados Unidos y la isla caribeña. Durante su visita, Obama se reunió con el líder actual cubano Raúl Castro, hermano de Fidel Castro.

Fidel Castro never met with Barack Obama during the U.S. president’s recent visit to Cuba.
The former Cuban leader wrote President Obama a letter instead.
Recently, the newspaper Granma published a letter from Castro addressed to Obama. Under the headline “Brother Obama,” Castro used the letter to criticize Obama’s views. He quoted Obama, who gave a speech on Cuban national television saying:
“It is time, now, to forget the past, leave the past behind. Let us look to the future together, a future of hope. And it won’t be easy. There will be challenges, and we must give it time; but my stay here gives me more hope in what we can do together as friends, as family, as neighbors, together.”
Castro wrote that he about had a heart attack when he heard President Obama say those words. He also wrote that he rejected the idea of Cuba needing the United States. Cuba can produce food and economic prosperity for its citizens on its own, he stated. Castro also criticized Obama for discussing the Cuban revolution and Cuba’s situation.
“We don’t need anything from the empire,” Fidel Castro’s letter stated in conclusion.
Since the letter was published, many people have reacted in opposition to Castro’s comments.
Obama visited Cuba hoping to help create a better relationship between the United States and the Caribbean island. During his visit, Obama met with current Cuban leader Raul Castro, Fidel Castro’s brother.
