La lista se acorta

VicePresidente

The list is narrowing

Analysis by Dermidio Juez-Perez
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is narrowing the list of potential running mates that could enrich her candidacy. The former secretary of state and first lady is focusing on a handful of prospects that she feels would not only fit with her plans and goals as president, but also are the type of people who get her excited about working together.
After her long, dramatic Democratic primary race with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, Clinton seems ready and anxious to select a strong vice presidential candidate who’s prepared for the job. With the primaries behind her, the former secretary has been able to invest more time in the selection process, resulting in a short list of vice presidential candidates. The short list includes Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro of Texas – a Latino and a woman in the top three.
There also is another small list of less likely candidates who are rumored to still be on her list: Labor Secretary Tom Perez, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra of California. Yet another two Latinos!
Time will tell who’ll join Clinton in her quest to win the election in November. As she has often said, her biggest priority is finding someone who could fill the presidency should anything happen to her – and someone that Republicans can’t credibly cast as ill-prepared.
Perhaps she’ll choose someone who fits that criteria and is Latino.
