Finding meaning in life

Commentary by Paula Alzate

Many people question at least once in their life what their purpose is – what are we here for, or what the meaning of life is all about. And sometimes people spend their entire life looking for that purpose and not enjoying the road.
However, instead of asking questions, start by enjoying the little things in your day to day and understand what truly matters and is important to you by following some advises:
*Understand your talents: everyone was born with a gift and that gift can lead you to your purpose. Understanding your talents will help you pursue what you enjoy doing and what you are best at.
*Volunteer: volunteering with non-profits and programs will help you give back to your community while learning other people’s stories. This will also help you value what you have while helping others.
*Set goals: setting goals every day is a way to discover your priorities. When you know what is important to you, you will be able to find a way to accomplish those goals. Start with small and daily goals and work towards the big and long term goals.
*Choose to be happy: you have a chance every morning to wake up and have a better attitude than the day before. If you see the glass half full from the second you open your eyes your day would be brighter and positive things will come easier.
