Tips for first-time mothers

By Chara

First-time mothers have one thing in common: They haven’t had the experience of raising a child.
If you’re about to become a first-time mother, here are a few tips that might help you, provided courtesy of Dos Mundos in honor of Mother’s Day (May 14):

*Talk to your family: Ask family members questions and seek their advice. Don’t feel that you’ll look silly or ignorant. Your family is there to support you.
*Work on a plan: Talk to your partner and develop a plan where you can work together in raising your child. If you work together with your partner, you won’t have as many difficulties or complications.
*Prioritize: With a newborn, your life will change and you’ll have to adapt. Write on a piece of paper your list of priorities. Plan accordingly and don’t feel that you need to complete everything based on a timeline.
*Don’t forget about yourself: Try to enjoy some activities outside of motherhood. If you like to drink coffee with your girlfriends or go to the gym, maybe you can ask your partner to watch your child while you enjoy those activities. Making sure you’re looking after yourself is a top priority for your baby’s well-being.
*Ask for help: If you can’t do something, you don’t know something or feel overwhelmed by motherhood, call your family or friends. They’ll help you in the best possible way.
