Steve Bannon’s recent interview on the TV program “60 minutes” was alarming.
It’s scary how different my reality is from his. The following are some of the most alarming – and controversial – statements that President Trump’s former White House chief strategist made during the interview:
*While referring to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan, Bannon stated: “They do not want Donald Trump’s … agenda to be implemented.” Bannon probably meant Congress’ failure to repeal and replace Obamacare, and find funding for Trump’s proposed border wall. Undoubtedly, his intention was to blame someone other than Trump for the administration’s failure to deliver on its promises.
*Bannon threatened even the members of his own party by stating, “They’re going to be held accountable if they do not support the president of the United States.” This can easily translate to saying, “You must do and say as President Trump tells you to do and say.”
*Understandably, Bannon is worried the Republicans will lose the House in the midterm elections. But unsurprisingly, he had something to blame this on other than the Republicans themselves, stating: “I’m worried about losing the House now because of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program).” Bannon is predicting that Republicans will debate too much on the issue – and once again, accomplish nothing, resulting in yet another failure for the Trump administration.
*According to Bannon, the Catholic Church supports immigration because the church is “unable to come to grips with the problems in the church. They need illegal aliens. They need illegal aliens to fill the churches.” Unbelievable as this might sound, Bannon may have never thought of the possibility that the Catholic Church supports DACA because the church understands that those immigrants don’t belong to another country, but rather, the United States of America.
Based on his “60 Minutes” interview, Bannon believes that Trump can’t be blamed for any of his administration’s failures. “Can Trump be blamed for any of his failures?” he asked rhetorically.
But wait a minute, Steve. How about the tweets?
Bannon had an answer for that question, too.
“I think what he does on Twitter is extraordinary,” Bannon said. “He disintermediates the media.”
Absolutely alarming.

Bannon juega a culpar en “60 Minutes”
La reciente entrevista de Steve Bannon en el programa de televisión “60 minutos” fue alarmante.
Da miedo lo diferente que es mi realidad de la suya. Las siguientes son algunas de las declaraciones más alarmantes y polémicas:
* Bannon declaró: “No quieren que la agenda de Donald Trump sea implementada”. Bannon probablemente se refería a que el Congreso no logro revocar y reemplazar Obamacare, y tampoco logró financiar la propuesta de Trump de una muralla en la frontera. Sin lugar a dudas, su intención fue culpar a alguien que no fuera Trump por el fracaso de la administración en cumplir sus promesas.
* Bannon amenazó incluso a los miembros de su propio partido diciendo: “Van a rendir cuentas si no apoyan al presidente de los Estados Unidos”. Esto puede traducirse fácilmente a decir: “Deben hacer y decir lo que el presidente Trump pede que hagan y digan.”
* Comprensiblemente, Bannon está preocupado de que los republicanos perderán la Cámara en las elecciones de mitad de mandato. Pero, como era de esperar, encontró donde apuntar la culpa. “Estoy preocupado por perder la Cámara ahora debido al programa DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)”. Bannon predice que los republicanos debatirán demasiado sobre la cuestión – y una vez más, no lograran nada, lo que resulta en otro fracaso para la administración Trump.
* Según Bannon, la Iglesia Católica apoya la inmigración porque la iglesia es “incapaz de enfrentarse a los problemas que tiene. Necesitan extranjeros ilegales.” Bannon tal vez nunca haya pensado en la posibilidad de que la Iglesia Católica apoye a DACA porque la iglesia entiende que esos inmigrantes no pertenecen a otro país, sino más bien a los Estados Unidos Estados de América.
Basado en su entrevista de “60 Minutes”, Bannon cree que Trump no puede ser culpado por ninguno de los fracasos de su administración. “¿Se puede culpar a Trump por alguno de sus fracasos?”, Preguntó retóricamente.
Pero espera un minuto, Steve. ¿Qué hay de los tweets?
Bannon también tenía una respuesta para esa pregunta.
“Creo que lo que hace en Twitter es extraordinario”, dijo Bannon. “Desintermedia los medios de comunicación”.
Absolutamente alarmante.
