Barreto Jr. inducted into VHHS Hall of Honor

On Sept. 22, Kansas City area native and former U.S. Small Business Administration leader Hector V. Barreto Jr. was inducted into the Hall of Honor at Van Horn High School.
Barreto – whose father, Hector Sr., helped establish and served as president of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce – graduated in 1979 from the Independence, Mo., high school before graduating in 1983 from Rockhurst University. He’s the first Hispanic to be inducted into the Hall of Honor at Van Horn, which has a large Hispanic population.
“I feel very honored and happy to see many Hispanic students at the school,” Hector Barreto Jr. said. “When I was here, we were … (only) a few.”


Barreto Jr. ingresó al Salón de Honor

El día 22 de septiembre El nativo de Kansas City y ex director de la Administración de Pequeños Negocios de Estados Unidos Héctor Barreto Jr. fue introducido al salón de honor de la escuela secundaria. Barreto – hijo del líder, Héctor Sr., quien estableció y fue presidente de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Estados Unidos– se graduó en 1979 de la escuela secundaria Van Horn en Independence, Mo., antes de graduarse en 1983 del Rockhurst University.
El es el primer Hispano en ser introducido en el Hall of Honor de la escuela Van Horn, en donde ahora hay un gran numero de estudiantes hispanos .
“Me siento muy honorado y feliz de ver tantos estudiantes hispanos ahora en la escuela dijo Barreto Jr. “cuando yo estuve sólo éramos pocos”.
