It is a good idea to get a second opinion from a respected immigration lawyer to double check if you are told nothing can be done. We have two families right now who were told by other lawyers that there was no hope.
The first couple had been married for many years. The husband came to the US with a visa but lost the visa documents. An immigration attorney told them he could not apply to get his green card inside the US because he did not have proof of his legal entry. I explained that we could request a new copy of the documents. We applied and only a few weeks later we had the document for him to obtain his green card without leaving the United States. The family will finally feel secure and be able to stop being afraid.
The second family is a US citizen wife who used the Spanish spelling of her name on her Mexican marriage certificate. Again, an attorney told them she could not bring her husband and children to the US to live with her because of this small issue. A friend told her about our office. We are moving forward with applying for her family, reuniting them in the US.
Be careful who you trust with your family’s future. It’s important not to believe false promises, but it is also important to have a lawyer that understands the law and the immigrant journey.

En caso de que le digan que no se puede hacer nada, es buena idea obtener la segunda opinión de otro abogado de inmigración. En este momento hay dos familias a quienes otros abogados les dijeron que no había esperanza.
La primera pareja estuvo casada muchos años. El esposo vino a Estados Unidos con una visa pero perdió los documentos de la visa. Un abogado de inmigración les dijo que no podía solicitar su credencial de residencia dentro de Estados Unidos porque no tenía constancia de su entrada legal. Le expliqué que podríamos solicitar una nueva copia de los documentos. Aplicamos y sólo unas semanas después teníamos el documento para que él obtuviera su credencial de residencia sin salir de los Estados Unidos. La familia finalmente se sentirá segura y podrá dejar de tener miedo.
La segunda familia es una esposa que es ciudadana estadounidense y usó la ortografía en de su nombre español en su certificado de matrimonio mexicano. Otra vez, un abogado les dijo que no podía llevar a su esposo e hijos a los EE.UU. para vivir con ella debido a este pequeño problema. Un amigo le contó sobre nuestra oficina. Estamos avanzando con la solicitud de su familia, reuniéndolos en Estados Unidos.
Tenga cuidado en quién confía el futuro de su familia. Es importante no creer falsas promesas, pero también es importante tener un abogado que entienda la ley y el viaje de los inmigrantes.
