Flavio Musmanno is among the many immigrants who have been deported. But there is something that makes his story intriguing: the way he was captured.
Musmanno, a 44-year-old immigrant from Argentina who had lived and worked in Ohio since 2000, was recently captured by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities, and then deported after losing his wallet. A good man called to inform him that he had found Musmanno’s wallet. The man who had found Musmanno’s wallet was a police officer.
In short, immigration authorities captured Musmanno through a trap. The officer called him, in perfect Spanish, without disclosing he was a police officer. When the husband and father arrived at the pre-established place to meet the officer, he found a police sting operation there, ready to arrest him. Undoubtedly, Musmanno froze and immediately realized his life was about to be ruined.
“They took me to a station and they ran a background check on me,” he told the press. “They realized that I do not have a criminal record, and they (still) decided to take me to jail.”
In the face of this tremendous misfortune, the family contacted a lawyer immediately to try to help Musmanno avoid deportation. But things did not go well. Unfortunately, his family was one more victim of the scammers that prey on immigrants in America.
“A week after the incident, we realized that the lawyer … had cheated us,” his daughter Florencia told Dos Mundos.
The result of this catastrophe is that innocent people lost their dad to an immigration trap. A dad who was deported, despite not having any criminal record. A dad who was the source of financial support for his family and is thousands of miles from his family. A dad who suffered the injustice of being wrongly captured and deported because he lost his wallet.
Detenido y deportado por perder su billetera
Flavio Musmanno se encuentra entre los muchos inmigrantes deportados. Pero hay algo que hace que su historia sea intrigante: la forma en que fue capturado.
Musmanno, un inmigrante argentino de 44 años que había vivido y trabajado en Ohio desde el 2000, fue capturado recientemente por las autoridades de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas de los Estados Unidos, y luego fue deportado luego de perder su billetera. Un buen hombre llamó para informarle que había encontrado la cartera de Musmanno. El hombre que había encontrado la cartera de Musmanno era un oficial de policía.
En resumen, las autoridades de inmigración capturaron Musmanno a través de una trampa. El oficial lo llamó, en perfecto español, sin revelar que era un oficial de policía. Cuando Flavio llegaron al lugar preestablecido para encontrarse con el oficial, encontró una operación policial, lista para arrestarlo. Sin lugar a dudas, Musmanno se congeló e inmediatamente se dio cuenta de que su vida estaba a punto de arruinarse.
“Me llevaron a una estación y me hicieron una verificación de antecedentes”, dijo a la prensa. “Se dieron cuenta de que no tengo antecedentes penales, y (aún) decidieron llevarme a la cárcel”.
Ante esta tremenda desgracia, la familia se contactó con un abogado de inmediato para tratar de ayudar a Musmanno a evitar la deportación. Pero las cosas no salieron bien. Desafortunadamente, su familia fue una víctima más de los estafadores que se aprovechan de los inmigrantes en Estados Unidos.
“Una semana después del incidente, nos dimos cuenta de que el abogado … nos había engañado”, dijo su hija Florencia.
El resultado de esta catástrofe es que personas inocentes perdieron a su padre en una trampa de inmigración. Un padre que fue deportado, a pesar de no tener antecedentes penales. Un padre que fue la fuente de apoyo financiero para su familia y está a miles de millas de su familia. Un padre que sufrió la injusticia de ser capturado y deportado erróneamente porque perdió su billetera.
