Leticia Munoz: Moved by faith

By Chara
Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, native and current Shawnee, Kansas, resident Leticia Munoz (Muñoz in Spanish) has a passion for helping others, whether she does so through her business or her volunteering.
Munoz tributes that passion to her love for God and her faith. And her desire to work and be active.
“I don’t wait for people to ask for help,” she said. “I just act.”
Married and the mother of three children and grandmother of a granddaughter, Munoz has been in the Kansas City area for 27 years. Since arriving here, she has established a cleaning company.
“I take care of everything,” Munoz said. “(It) is a legal business. I take my employees to their working places, (I) work (at) cleaning houses and coordinating all the operations in general.”
Munoz, however, puts ideals over profits. Still, she feels “very proud of the things I have achieved,” she said.
“I have my house, my family,” Munoz said. “I’m always thankful to God because, without him, … (none) of the things that I have would be possible.”
Munoz expresses her thanks to God in part through her service to All Saints Church in Kansas City, Kansas, where she is a member. Since she began attending, she has participated in programs such as Impacts, a marriage program. She also has been an active participant in Sunday Mass and has been a marriage counselor for several years. This year, she will participate in the Stations of the Cross observance.
“I like to be part of the church because it helps me to think about myself,” Munoz said. “It makes me think deeply about my actions and helps me to stay close to God. I always thank God because everything we have (my family and me) is thanks to him. I don’t have enough words to describe how grateful I am with him.”
Munoz describes herself as someone who likes to be happy, smile and joke around. She is excited about being nominated for a Women’s History Month Series article.
“I feel very happy and satisfied with all the things that I have done,” Munoz said. “I don’t have words to tell you how happy I am.”
In advising other women, Munoz encourages them to fight for their dreams and not give up.
“Don’t let anyone tell you that you won’t accomplish it (your goal),” she said. “Don’t put limits … (on) yourself. You can do it.”

“No (te) pongas límites. Puedes hacerlo.”
