“Corazon Y Una Lengua Peregrina: Poesía y Narrativa,” Spanish for “The Heart and Pilgrim Tongue: Poetry and Narrative” is the title of the new book from the Kansas City-based Latino Writers Collective (LWC), a group of area and regional Latino writers.  The book is available for purchase on Amazon and 39westpress.com.
The LWC celebrated the release of their new anthology, the first book published by the group, at the Guadalupe Center last Friday, December 9. Book contributors read selections of poetry and prose interspersed by two musicians who performed music on guitar.
“The defense of the language is the defense of the culture,” LWC President, Herman, a native of Bogotá Colombia, told guests.
“The LWC’s mission as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is to foster an environment where the voices of Latino students, blue collar workers, professionals, and homemakers can be heard, contributing their experience and vision to the larger community,” says the group on their website.
The LWC meets at least two times per month and welcomes new members. There is no fee to join.  For more information, visit latinowriterscollective.org
