Cuban actress Danay García has stood out for her participation in TV series such as The Walking Dead and Prison Break. In her latest film Sniper: Ulltimate Kill, García gives life to Kate Estrada, a DEA agent in charge of capturing a Colombian drug trafficker who has caused death and destruction.
In interview with Dos Mundos, Danay talk to us about this move that you can own on DVD on October 3rd.
Dos Mundos: Tell us, how did you get the character?
Danay García: I started with a normal audition. When I finished The Walking Dead I went to the audition and I was without any pressure, then a week later they called me and they said are you ready for Colombia? and I said I’m ready.
DM: The film tackles an important issue that affects our society such as drug trafficking, how do you feel about giving a live to Kate Estrada?
DG: Well I concentrated on the objective that was to give life to the person. Kate is a woman who has spent two years working to eliminate this problem [drug trafficking], and capturing this person who is in Colombia. I concentrated on giving the best to give life to Kate.
DM: Tell us about Kate. Are there similarities or differences between you two?
DG: I think we have similarities, we see the obstacle as a way to advance and evolve. We don’t see them as a problem, so I loved it. I feel that I understand it and that makes me feel good.
DM: Did you have a favorite scene?
DG: I love action scenes, I liked them because they are scenes that one does not do every day. [The one I like] Is a bomb scene and oh well how many times you can repeat that. When you do it you have to do it right. The adrenaline comes in when it’s about to explode and you say OMG here we are making a movie.
DM: What message do you think the film is intended to send to people?
DG: I think one of the messages is that although things are difficult, you should always continue and not let that stop us as human beings, that is one of the things I understood with Kate. She has many obstacles and she continues. Somehow this is a message, problems get solved although you don’t expect them to get solved.
DM: This movie is about action, how did you feel about bringing Kate Estrada to life?
DG: I feel very honored, first of all as an actress being part of an important film like this, being part of this machine that started long ago, and being a woman and representing a woman in such a crude world is something special. I did everything possible to give this character an honest life.
DM: Why do you think people should see this movie?
DG: If you like action, mystery, explosions, it is a very entertaining film. It takes you out of reality and that takes you to this action world.

Danay García da vida a Kate Estrada en Sniper
La actriz cubana Danay García se ha destacado por su participación en series como The Walking Dead y Prison Break. En su última película Sniper: Ulltimate Kill, García da vida a Kate Estrada, una agente de la DEA encargada de atrapar a un narcotraficante colombiano que ha causado estragos, muerte y destrucción en los últimos años. En entrevista para Dos Mundos, Danay nos platicó de este importante proyecto que llega en DVD el próximo 3 de octubre.
Dos Mundos: Platícanos ¿cómo fue que conseguiste el personaje?
Danay García: Empecé con una audición normal, justo cuando terminé The Walking Dead fui a esa audición y estaba sin ningún tipo de presión, luego a la semana me llamaron y me dijeron lista para Colombia y dije lista.
DM: La película aborda un tema importante que afecta a la sociedad como lo es el tráfico de drogas, ¿cómo te sientes de darle vida a Kate Estrada?
DG: Bueno yo me concentré en el objetivo que era darle vida a la persona, es una mujer que ha pasado dos años trabajando para eliminar este problema, agarrar a esta persona que está en Colombia., me concentré en dar lo mejor para dar vida a Kate.
DM: Platícanos de Kate. ¿Hay similitudes o diferencias entre ustedes?
DG: Yo creo que tenemos muchas similitudes, vemos el obstáculo como una manera de avanzar y evolucionar no como un problema, entonces eso me encantó de ella. Me siento que la entiendo y eso me hace sentir bien.
DM: ¿Tuviste alguna escena favorita?
DG: Me encantan las escenas de acción, me gustaron porque son escenas que uno no hace todos los días. Es una escena de una bomba y bueno cuantas veces puedes repetir eso, entonces cuando lo haces tienes que hacerlo bien. La adrenalina te entra cuando está a punto de explotar y dices OMG aquí estamos haciendo una película.
DM: ¿Qué mensaje crees que la película pretende enviar a la gente?
DG: Yo creo que uno de los mensajes es que por muy difícil que te la pongan, muy difícil que estén las cosas, siempre se debe continuar y no dejar que eso nos pare como seres humanos. Esa es una de las cosas que yo entendí con Kate, ella tiene muchos obstáculos y ella sigue. De alguna manera esto es un mensaje, el que cuando menos te lo imaginas, esto se puede solucionar.
DM: Esta película es de acción, ¿cómo te sentiste de dar vida a Kate Estrada?
DG: Yo me siento muy honrada, primero que nada como actriz, el ser parte de una película importante como esta, el ser parte de esta máquina que empezó hace tiempo y ser mujer y representar a una mujer en un mundo tan crudo, es algo especial. Yo hice todo lo posible por darle una vida honesta a este personaje.
DM: ¿Por qué crees que la gente debe ver esta película?
DG: Si te gusta la acción, el misterio, las explosiones, es una película muy entretenida, que te saca de la realidad y que te lleva a este mundo de acción.
DM: Mándale un mensaje a la gente de KC:
DG: Para todos los de KC los invito a ver la película de Sniper. La pueden tener en DVD a partir del 3 de octubre, espero que la disfruten, espero que se entretengan, que se rían y que el misterio se les despierte. Gracias por ser parte de esta aventura.
