The city was founded by the Romans with the name Londinium almost 2 thousand years ago. Its metropolitan area has around 14 million citizens, making it the most populated area in Europe.
London is a global city, besides being the financial center of the world, it is one of the most recognized centers of art, fashion, finance, tourism, transportation among many others. It has the largest airport system on the planet, and has 43 universities within the city, making it the largest concentration of higher education in Europe. It has 4 sites designated World Heritage by UNESCO, of which we will talk later.

You will find the subway, buses, and trains, which are very useful. The best way to use it is by purchasing an Oyster card, which will help you save more than 50% of your tickets. Westminster Abbey is the oldest temple in London. It is also the seat of the coronations and houses the tombs of the monarchs and British historical figures of the last 1 thousand years. It was consecrated in 1065 with Romanesque style and rebuilt in the Gothic style between 1245 and 1517. In the 18th century, the 2 large towers of the main entrance were added. The Palace of Westminster is also known as the House of Parliament. It is a Victorian Gothic building that houses the 2 Chambers that form the British Parliament and was founded in 1512. Due that the old palace was burned in 1834, you can only find the cloisters, the Westminster Hall, the crypt of Stephen’s Chapel and the Jewel Tower, where jewels and gold were kept. In 1847 the new palace was completed, with more than 1,200 rooms, 11 courtyards and 3.5 km of corridors. This beautiful palace can only be visited on Saturdays and during the summer months. Tower Bridge, located next to the Tower of London, is a drawbridge built in Victorian style. Bienvenidos turistas, en esta edición nos toca hablar de la ciudad más grande de Reino Unido, que además es también la capital de su país, nos referimos a Londres, Inglaterra. La ciudad fue fundada por los romanos con el nombre Londinium hace casi 2 mil años. Su área metropolitana cuenta con alrededor de 14 millones de habitantes, siendo así la más poblada de toda Europa.
Londres es una ciudad global, además de ser el centro financiero del mundo, es uno de los centros más reconocidos de arte, modas, finanzas, turismo, transporte entre muchos otros. Cuenta con el mayor sistema aeroportuario del planeta, además al contar con 43 universidades dentro de la ciudad la vuelven la mayor concentración de estudios superiores de Europa. Tiene 4 sitios denominados Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, de los cuales vamos hablar más adelante.

Torre de Londres, es una enorme edificación que ha tenido distintos fines a lo largo de su historia, entre ellos residencia real, fortaleza, arsenal y prisión. En este lugar fueron encerrados todos aquellos que ofendían a la monarquía, la mayoría de ellos malvivieron dentro de ella y muchos otros no salieron con vida, se destaca la ejecución de la reina Jane Gray, la reina consorte Ana Bolena y el escritor Tomás Moro. Entre las cosas que podrás disfrutar al visitar la torre está el visitar las joyas de la corona, compuestas por coronas, espadas y cetros de incalculable valor material, histórico y religioso. El Palacio Medieval, además de ser una imponente fortaleza también fue un reconfortante hogar para la realeza, aquí podrás ver algunos artículos del mobiliario de lujo del que gozaron en aquellos entonces los miembros de la realeza. Palacio de Westminster, es también conocido como las Casas del Parlamento. Es un edificio gótico victoriano que alberga las 2 Cámaras que componen el Parlamento Británico y que fue fundado en 1512. Del antiguo palacio que se quemó en el año 1834 sólo se conservan los claustros, el Westminster Hall, la cripta de Stephen´s Chapel y la Jewel Tower, lugar en donde se guardaban las joyas y el oro. En 1847 se terminó de construir el nuevo palacio, con más de 1,200 habitaciones, 11 patios y 3.5 km de pasillos. Este hermoso palacio sólo se puede visitar los sábados y durante los meses de verano. El costo de entrada varía entre los $24 y los $37 si es con guía o audioguía. Otro de los sitios Patrimonio de la Humanidad.
Puente de la Torre, se encuentra junto a la Torre de Londres, es un puente levadizo construido al estilo victoriano. Aquí podrás conocer el cambio que se hizo del funcionamiento de elevación del puente por medio de una máquina de vapor al sistema actual eléctrico. Es uno de los sitios más emblemáticos de Londres y que arroja siempre miradas y muchas fotografias. El costo de entrada es de $13.
