The Volland Store presents the inaugural event at the new Volland Arena:
CHARRO JERRY DIAZ AND FAMILY, A Traditional Vaquero Equestrian Performance on July 27 at the Volland Arena next to The Volland Store, 24098 Volland Road, Alma, Kansas
5:30 pm – Smokin’ Wille’s BBQ Food Truck, Mariachi Girasol de Topeka, and “Law of the Saddle” in the Volland Store gallery.
7:30 pm – Performance by Jerry, Staci, and Nicolas Diaz, and their Spanish Andalusian horses, plus Glory, the Mini.
Bring a lawn chair. Free will offering.
The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with Smokin’ Wille’s BBQ and the music of Mariachi Girasol de Topeka. “Law of the Saddle (II)” by Fort Worth artist Linda Blackburn will be on exhibit in the gallery of The Volland Store, along with a few select saddles and other Western gear. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon shade before the show begins at 7:30. This will be the first performance in the Volland Arena, a new addition to the attractions at Volland, celebrating its heritage and its current culture of ranching.
Gerardo “Jerry” Diaz, “Superior Horseman,” comes from the world of Mexican horsemanship and rodeo. A true charro, Diaz follows the grand tradition of his Mexican heritage. The charro’s strict code of honor includes chivalry, high ethics, expert horsemanship and dedication to family and charro traditions. Diaz embodies all of these qualities. He is four times World Champion Charro and has earned the Federation of Charros’ Golden Spur Award for his outstanding contributions and his commitment to the charro tradition.
Volland owners the Reece’s have a long friendship with Diaz, his wife Staci, and their son Nicolas. The four Reece horses—Paloma, Alma, Vaquero, and Katrine—were handpicked by Jerry Diaz. Their grandchildren have traveled to the Diaz Ranch for lessons, and the Diaz family has been guests at the Reece Ranch. Because of the close friendship, Jerry Diaz and his family will travel to the Flint Hills to present an extraordinary performance at The Volland Arena.

La velada comenzará a las 5:30 p.m. con Smokin’ Wille’s BBQ y la música del Mariachi Girasol de Topeka. “La ley del Sillin (II)” de la artista de Fort Worth, Linda Blackburn, estará en exhibición en la galería de la Volland Store, junto con algunas sillas de montar selectas y otros equipos occidentales. Se anima a los asistentes a traer sillas de jardín y disfrutar de la sombra de la tarde antes de que comience el espectáculo a las 7:30. Sus nietos han viajado al Rancho Díaz para recibir lecciones, y la familia Díaz ha sido invitada al Rancho Reece.
