Mattie Rhodes is partnering with Our Healthy Jackson County, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Children’s Mercy Hospital and others to host a community health fair.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday (April 6) at 148 N. Topping Ave., Kansas City, Missouri.
“This event is important because people will not only be helping themselves, but also their families and the entire community,” said Alexis Garcia, Mattie Rhodes public health coordinator. “It is also free and it gives our community a chance to come together and provide these benefits and have fun at the same time.”
Those potential benefits include COVID-19 vaccinations; blood pressure, mental health and dental screenings; and access to resources to quit smoking. In addition, attendees will receive passports, and those who collect stamps from all the required tables will receive a free voucher to enjoy food from one of the food trucks.
Attendees also will have the chance to earn up to $100 in cash incentives by participating in certain activities. Limited numbers of incentives will be available.
Entertainment will include face painting, raffle prizes and a special appearance by Slugger, the mascot for the Kansas City Royals.
The event will have some interpreters to help people who don’t speak English.
Registration for the event is required. Attendees may register in advance or the day of the event on site.

Mattie Rhodes se asocia con organizaciones para hacer feria de salud comunitaria
Mattie Rhodes se está asociando con Our Healthy Jackson County, la Universidad de Missouri-Kansas City, el Children’s Mercy Hospital y otros para organizar una feria de salud comunitaria.
El evento está programado para el sábado (6 de abril) de 11 a.m. a 2 p.m. en 148 N. Topping Ave. en Kansas City, Missouri.
“Este evento es importante porque las personas no sólo se ayudarán a sí mismas, sino también a sus familias y a toda la comunidad”, dijo Alexis García, coordinadora de salud pública de Mattie Rhodes. “También es gratis y le brinda a nuestra comunidad la oportunidad de unirse y brindar estos beneficios y divertirse al mismo tiempo”.
Esos beneficios potenciales incluyen las vacunas contra el COVID-19; exámenes de presión arterial, salud mental y dentales; y acceso a recursos para dejar de fumar. Además, los asistentes recibirán pasaportes, y quienes recojan sellos de todas las mesas requeridas recibirán un bono gratuito para disfrutar de la comida de uno de los camiones de comida.
Los asistentes también tendrán la oportunidad de ganar hasta $100 en incentivos en efectivo al participar en ciertas actividades. Habrá un número limitado de incentivos disponibles.
El entretenimiento incluirá pintura de caras, premios de rifa y una aparición especial de Slugger, la mascota de los Kansas City Royals.
El evento contará con algunos intérpretes para ayudar a las personas que no hablan inglés.
