On Feb. 23, the Chicano Center for the Arts hosted “Unidos: Rally for Immigrants & LGBTQIA+” in partnership with Jackson County Legislator Manny Abarca IV.
Held under the I-35 Bridge in the Westside between Cesar Chavez Ave & Southwest Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri, the Unidos Rally sought to amplify the voices of immigrant and LGBTQIA+ communities, standing in solidarity to demand justice, equity, and protection for all. The event brought together advocates, city leaders, and allies to emphasize the importance of inclusivity, human rights, and community empowerment in the face of ongoing challenges.
“As we continue fighting for policies that support and uplift all marginalized communities, it is critical that we show up for one another,” Abarca said. “This rally is a powerful reminder that our struggles are interconnected, and only by standing together can we push for real, meaningful change.”
The rally featured speeches from local leaders and opportunities for attendees to engage in advocacy efforts.
