Septiembre es el mes de celebraciones para muchos países latinoamericanos.

En septiembre, muchos países latinoamericanos celebran fiestas patrias -días festivos que celebra su cultura y el Día de la Independencia. Algunos de los países con días festivos en septiembre son México, Guatemala, Brasil, Honduras, Costa Rica y El Salvador.
El 15 de septiembre, los mexicanos celebran el Día de la Independencia mexicana acudiendo a “El Grito”, la cual una ceremonia realizada en la Ciudad de México. El Salvador, Guatemala y Honduras también celebran su independencia el 15 de septiembre.
Para celebrar las fiestas patrias, las familias y amigos se reúnen para celebrar con comida, bebidas y actividades que honran sus tradiciones. Aunque las celebraciones se llevan a cabo principalmente en países latinoamericanos, los latinos en Estados Unidos también organizan reuniones especiales para celebrarlo. Entre los latinos del área que hacen planes para recordar su patrimonio y compartir el mayor conocimiento posible sobre su cultura incluyen a la residente de Kansas, Jessica Olivas.
“Septiembre es el mes para demostrar nuestro orgullo y tradiciones”, dijo Olivas. “Lo veo como el mes para enseñarle a otros sobre nuestra cultura y tradiciones. Me siento feliz siempre que llega septiembre porque es un mes de celebración y tengo la oportunidad de reunirme con toda mi familia y amigos”.


Many Latin nations celebrating holidays in September

September is a month of celebration for many Latin American countries.
In September, many Latin American countries observe Fiestas Patrias – holidays that celebrate their culture and day of independence. Some of the countries with September holidays include Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
On Sept. 15, Mexicans celebrate Mexican Independence Day by watching “El Grito,” a ceremony hosted in Mexico City. El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras also celebrate their independence on Sept. 15.
To observe the Fiestas Patrias, families and friends gather to celebrate with food, beverages and activities that honor their heritage. Although the celebrations are held mostly in Latin American countries, Latinos in the United States also organize special gatherings to celebrate. Area Latinos try who plan to remember their heritage and share as much knowledge as they can about their culture include Kansas resident Jessica Olivas.
“September is a month to show our pride and heritage,” Olivas said. “I see it as the month to teach others about our culture and traditions. I just feel happy whenever September gets here because it is a month of celebration, and I have the opportunity to get together with all my family and friends.”
