For those looking for something family-friendly and new to watch while staying home with their family due to COVID-19, “Spies in Disguise” is an option.
Starring Will Smith and Tom Holland, the animated movie is available in digital format and on DVD/Blu-Ray. In the movie, super spy Lance Sterling (Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is none of the above. But this unlikely duo must team up for the ultimate mission to save the world when a “biodynamic concealment” experiment transforms Lance into a brave, fierce, majestic … pigeon!
To celebrate the launching, Dos Mundos spoke with Hector Trejo, who dubbed Agent Quane in Spanish. Known as “Bully,” Trejo is a YouTuber, vlogger, actor and web host who has managed his own YouTube channel since 2006. He also works as a digital strategist for brands and agencies.
Dos Mundos: How did you become part of this project?
Hector Trejo: After many years working in the social media world, I collaborated with Fox and Disney, which are now under the same company. I’d worked with Fox on another movie, “Dragon Ball: Farolis Battle,” two years ago. They invited me to work on this one dubbing Agent Quane, which I found really interesting. I’m honored to have worked with two stars of the Spanish dubbing like Mario Filio and Emilio Trevino.
DM: How is dubbing a movie different than voicing it?
HT: Dubbing is a career that has a lot of respect. I grew up listening to the voices of people like Victor Ugarte and lots of other big stars in the dubbing world, which have turned dubbing into an institution in Mexico. There is a technical part, obviously. But the experience for me was being in front of the mic, seeing the emotion between these two characters, specifically between Agent Quane and Agent Bruno, dubbed by Andres Navy, another YouTuber with experience in dubbing. … Ricardo Tejedo, dubbing director, … (did) a great job letting us be but also guiding us through the process. Today, every time I stand in front of a mic, I feel a little more confident. The moment you relax, everything flows.
DM: You’re dubbing Agent Quane. Could you tell us more about the character?
HT: Agent Quane and Agent Bruno are part of this international organization of spies. … I think we have all dreamt of being spies at some point during our childhoods. In my case, my character Agent Quane is one of those spies who wanted to be a spy as a kid. Imagine what it is to achieve your biggest dream, and there’s the best spy, Lance Sterling, who is the best agent on the team. And (Quane) will meet him in a pretty funny situation that you should not miss. You have to see it.
DM: For those who haven’t seen the movie yet, why should people watch “Spies in Disguise”?
HT: Now that we’ve all been advised to stay at home, we have had the time to watch all the series and movies on our lists. This is a new movie. If you give “Spies in Disguise” a chance, and particularly a chance to watch it with your family, you’ll see a movie with a very important lesson: That no matter what our qualities are, we have to embrace who we are because, with teamwork and cooperation, we can achieve a lot of things. Also, I think Walter Beckett is a guy who makes us believe science is good, that makes science fun. That example is good for the children because we need more scientists. The movie will leave you all inspired.
It’s a movie that everyone can enjoy and with a nice lesson.

Héctor Trejo habla sobre su trabajo de doblaje en “Espías a Escondidas”
Para aquellos que están buscando algo nuevo que ver y que toda la familia disfrute en estos tiempos de cuarentena por el COVID-19, “Espías a Escondidas” es una gran opción.
La película animada protagonizada por Will Smith y Tom Holland ya está disponible en formato digital y en DVD/Blu-Ray. En la película, el súper espía Lance Sterling (Smith) y el científico Walter Beckett (Holland) son casi opuestos exactos. Lance es suave y elegante. Walter no es nada de eso. Pero este dúo improbable debe unirse para la misión final de salvar el mundo cuando un experimento de “ocultamiento biodinámico” transforma a Lance en una valiente, feroz y majestuosa … ¡paloma!
Para celebrar el lanzamiento, Dos Mundos habló con Héctor Trejo, quien hace la voz en español del Agente Quane. Mejor conocido con el sobrenombre de “Bully”, Trejo es un YouTuber, vlogger, actor y presentador de web que ha administrado su propio canal de YouTube desde 2006. También trabaja como estratega digital para marcas y agencias.
Dos Mundos: ¿Cómo es que llegas a formar parte de este proyecto?
Hector Trejo: Después de varios años de estar en el mundo de las redes sociales, … algunos de los colaboradores con los que he trabajado en esta travesía han sido Fox y Disney, que ahora están bajo el misma paraguas. Yo ya había trabajado con Fox en otra película, en “Dragon Ball: La batalla de los dioses”, hace dos años. Así, se me invitó a trabajar en esta película interpretando al agente Quane, el cual es muy interesante. Estoy muy honrado de haber participado con dos grandes del doblaje como Mario Filio y Emilio Treviño.
DM: Cómo es trabajar en doblaje a diferencia de actuar?
HT: Trabajar en doblaje obviamente es una profesión que tiene mucho respeto. Yo crecí escuchando las voces de estas personas como Victor Ugarte, mucha gente muy grande en el medio del doblaje que han hecho que en México el doblaje sea una institución. Existe una parte técnica, una parte que no se tiene que olvidar … . Pero la experiencia para mi fue estar frente al micrófono, ver la emoción de estos dos personajes, específicamente del agente Quane y del agente Bruno, que es interpretado por Andrés Navy, otro YouTuber con experiencia en doblaje. … También el director de doblaje Ricardo Tejedo hizo muy bien su labor al dejarnos ser pero guiarnos en este camino. Hoy en día, si me paro frente a un micrófono de doblaje cada vez me siento más confiado. En el momento en que te relajas, todo sale.
DM: Cuéntame un poco más sobre tu personaje, el agente Quane
HT: El agente Quane y el agente Bruno forman parte de esta organización mundial de espías las cuales están muy involucrados en la política… creo que todos hemos fantaseado en algún momento en nuestra niñez con ser espías. En mi caso, mi personaje, el agente Quane, es uno de esos espías que siempre quiso ser espía de niño. Imagínate si se te cumple el mayor sueño de tu vida y existe un espía que es el espía más grande de todos, Lance Sterling, que es el mejor agente que tiene el equipo. Y precisamente es a quien mi personaje conoce en una situación bastante divertida que ustedes no se pueden perder. Tienen que verla.
DM: ¿Por qué la gente debería ver “Espías a Escondidas”?
HT: Pues independientemente de que ahora estamos todos guardados en casa. Que hemos tenido tiempo de ver todo, yo creo que la gente ya se acabó las series y las películas de su lista. Pero si ustedes le dan una oportunidad a “Espías a Escondidas” y sobre todo si le dan una oportunidad de verla en familia, van a tener una película que nos habla de una lección muy importante y es el hecho de que no importa nuestras cualidades, el chiste es abrazar quienes somos porque en cooperación y haciendo equipo podemos lograr muchas cosas. … Beckett es el chico que nos hace creer que la ciencia en verdad sirve para algo bueno, él hace ciencia divertida. Ese ejemplo sirve para los más chicos porque hacen falta más científicos. Los va a dejar inspirados.
Todo el mundo puede disfrutar de esta película que tiene una muy bonita lección.
