Westside CAN hosts 22nd Back-to-School Pep Rally

On Friday July 28th, 61 volunteers and 26 partner organizations came to celebrate the 2023-24 school year and congratulate all the students of the Westside.

“It is a wonderful day to celebrate along along with all amazing volunteers and Westside CAN partners’ organizations the new school year 2023-24 and equip with 100% of schools supplies that KCMO school district requested for this year,” said Jorge Coromac, director of the Westside CAN Center. “There are no words to express our deepest gratitude to all organizations that help us and support to future leader of the community.”
Tony Aguirre Community Center, Irene Ruiz, Westside KCPD Officers and Westside CAN Center work year round to provide important services and programing to the children and families of the Westside community such as the Back to School. For the last 22 years, tireless volunteers and partner organization put together their best effort to support the success of the students and we are seeing tremendous result in the success of the students, commented Coromac.
Students and parents expressed deepest gratitude for this great event.
“For the last 22 years we have been able to provide backpacks/school supplies to all the students the live or attend any of the Westside Schools!” expresó Coromac.


All these wonderful organizations came to offer their support to the students and parents not only for this event but during the school year: Arvest Bank, Rotary Club 13, Friends of the Westside CAN, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Woodland Charity, Hall Family Foundation, Hispanic Development Fund, MO Conservation, Lakeside Nature Center, KC Balloon Artist, KC Library Bookmobile, KCMO Health Department, Fire Fighter Smoke Detector, Friends of the Library, Family Conservancy, Urban Youth Academy, MO Extension, Primitivo Garcia Elementary School, Lead to Read KC, Wage and Hours, Nurse Association KC, Piedra Law, KC Gils Prep, KCPS, MCC, Happy Bottoms, Jackson County-Outside Agencies, the City of Kansas City, Parks and Rec, Vox Pop Marketing and Reyes Media.
“Westside CAN Center would like to express deepest appreciation to all volunteers and partner organizations for their support to the students in this new school year 23/24,” Coromac added. “Our commitment continue equipment all students with supplies that will prepared for their academic success.”

Westside celebra el regreso a clases

El viernes 28 de julio, 61 voluntarios y 26 organizaciones socias se unieron para celebrar el año escolar 2023-24 y felicitar a todos los estudiantes del Westside.
“Es un día maravilloso para celebrar junto con todos los increíbles voluntarios y las organizaciones asociadas de Westside CAN el nuevo año escolar 2023-24 y equipar con el 100% de los útiles escolares que el distrito escolar de KCMO solicitó para este año”, expresó Jorge Coromac, director del Westside CAN Center. “No hay palabras para expresar nuestro más profundo agradecimiento a todas las organizaciones que nos ayudan y apoyan al futuro líder de la comunidad”.
El Centro Comunitario Tony Aguirre, Irene Ruiz, los oficiales de Westside KCPD y Westside CAN Center trabajan todo el año para brindar servicios y programas importantes a los niños y las familias de la comunidad de Westside, como el evento de regreso a clases. Durante los últimos 22 años, voluntarios incansables y organizaciones socias hicieron su mejor esfuerzo para apoyar el éxito de los estudiantes y estamos viendo resultados tremendos en el éxito de los estudiantes, comentó Coromac.
Estudiantes y padres expresaron su más profundo agradecimiento por este gran evento.
“¡Durante los últimos 22 años hemos podido proporcionar mochilas/útiles escolares a todos los estudiantes que viven o asisten a cualquiera de las escuelas de Westside!” expresó Coromac.
