Study reports marijuana kills cancer cells

By Chara

Cannabis – commonly called marijuana – “may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow,” according to a study published by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The study also revealed that cannabis may protect normal cells while killing cancer cells, along with several other cancer treatment benefits. By examining the positive effects of cannabis on colon inflammation, the study shows that cannabis “may have potential … (for) reducing the risk of colon cancer” and might help with treating it, the NCI stated.
The NCI study was performed on mice that were exposed to cannabis. Upon being treated with it, their health improved.
Cannabis hasn’t been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a valid cancer treatment.
“I think it is fantastic that they have found a natural cure in a plant that is available in every part of the country,” said Fernando Torres, a cancer survivor. “It is just sad that the FDA doesn’t show interest in researching more about the topic or about finding a real cure that helps cancer patients. We need to start doing something about it and try to get the government involved. This can be a miracle cure for everyone who lives with cancer.”
The FDA hasn’t commented on the NCI study.
