El espectáculo más grande del mundo se presenta en KC
Del 10 al 13 de septiembre, el espectáculo más grande del mundo llega a KC para entrenar y divertir a todas las familias. Esta vez el Sprint Center se viste de rojo al albergar a Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey y presentar el show de Legends. Acrobacias, entretenimiento, diversión y risas armonizarán este espectáculo lleno de magia y comedia.
En entrevista para Dos Mundos, Paulo Dos Santos, habló de lo que el show trae consigo en su próxima visita a la Ciudad de las Fuentes.
Dos Mundos: Platícanos un poco de ti:
Paulo Dos Santos: Mi nombre es Paulo Dos Santos, yo soy de Brasil. Nací en Sao Paulo, trabajo con el circo Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey y antes de empezar yo hacía teatro y capoeira en Brasil que es un arte que involucra artes marciales y he trabajado en toda mi trayectoria para llegar al circo. Yo trabajé en el festival nacional de capoeira en Brasil donde conseguí el primer lugar y ahí fue donde conocí a los muchachos que trabajan contratando gente para trabajar en Estados Unidos, la gente que busca talento y ahí fue mi oportunidad para trabajar y hacer las cosas que amo con el corazón y trabajar con el público.
DM: Cómo comenzaste en el mundo del circo?
PDS: Yo inicié en Brasil practicando capoeira y ahí conseguí hacer una audición. Un amigo me dijo que buscaban gente de baja estatura, entonces mi amigo me inscribió para hacer la audición y entonces yo presenté mis habilidades de capoeira con mis movimientos y ahí fue donde me dijeron que comenzara a prepararme para trabajar con ellos.
DM: ¿Cómo fue que se da tu ingreso a Ringling Bros?
PDS: Yo empecé en el 2009 con mi primer espectáculo y de ahí comencé a mostrar mi talento y a enseñar mi trabajo a la compañía y de ahí fui avanzando. Todo gracias a mi trabajo y mi disposición, no fue fácil porque yo soy de baja estatura, soy acróbata, hago vuelos aéreos entonces es un trabajo muy peligroso. Yo estoy muy feliz de que la compañía me dio la confianza y la oportunidad para demostrar mi talento y cada año que pasa yo hago muchas cosas nuevas.
DM: ¿Qué haces en este show titulado Legends?
PDS: Yo hago muchas cosas, vuelos, acrobacias, brincos, participo con los payasos del show. Es un espectáculo maravilloso con mucha magia con muchas cosas extraordinarias. Estamos muy ansiosos por llegar a KC y enseñar este espectáculo.
DM: ¿Tienes alguna parte favorita del show?
PDS: Me encantan los actos con los perritos, el acto con los animalitos. Los actos con los puerquitos, las cabras, es muy divertido. Esa parte del show me encanta, pero debo de decir que todos los actos son muy buenos.
DM: ¿Por qué crees que la gente debe ir al show?
PDS: Yo les recomiendo el show porque es diferente, cada dos años traemos algo nuevo y la gente no va a repetir lo que vieron. Los payasos hacen reír a la gente, todo es nuevo, diferente. Nosotros enseñamos la pasión del circo.
DM: ¿Qué significa para ti ser parte del circo?
PDS: Para mi es como sentirme en mi casa, sentirme con mi familia. La compañía nos apoya con la familia, me han ayudado mucho. El circo nos da muchos beneficios, es como estar en casa.
DM: Manda un mensaje a la gente de KC:
PDS: A todos mis amigos de KC los quiero invitar porque vamos a llegar y presentar Legends, es un show impresionante para toda la familia, los niños, vengan todos para ver este gran espectáculo. No se lo pueden perder porque va a haber varias atracciones para todo el mundo mostrando este espectáculo de Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey.

The biggest show in the world comes to KC
From Thursday to Sunday (Sept. 10-13), circus lovers can take in the “Greatest Show on Earth” at Kansas City, Mo.’s Sprint Center, when the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus presents its “Legends” show.
A mix of acrobatics, magic and comedy, the show’s company includes native Brazilian Paul Dos Santos. During a recent interview with Dos Mundos, Dos Santos discussed what the show will bring to the City of Fountains.
Dos Mundos: Tell us about yourself.
Paulo Dos Santos: My name is Paulo Dos Santos. I’m from Brazil. I was born in Sao Paulo. I work with the Ringling Bros. (and) Barnum & Bailey Circus… Before I started, I did theater and capoeira in Brazil, which is a type of art that includes martial arts – and I have worked all the way to make it to the circus. I worked in the national festival of capoeira in Brazil, where I got … first place…. There’s where I met the guys that were hiring people to work in the United States – the people that look for talent – and that’s where I had the opportunity to work and do the things I love with passion and work in front of an audience.
DM: How did you start in the circus world?
PDS: I started in Brazil practicing capoeira and then I got an audition. A friend told me they were looking for short people, so my friend signed me up to do the audition. So I did the audition and presented my abilities in capoeira … and that’s where they told me to start preparing to work with them.
DM: How did you … (join) Ringling Bros.?
PDS: I started in 2009 with my first show – and then, I started to show my talent and teach my job to the company and I started growing from there. Everything (is) thanks to my hard work. It wasn’t easy because I am short. I am an acrobat. I fly, so it is a dangerous job. I am very happy that the company gave me the confidence and the opportunity to demonstrate my talent – and each year, I do a lot of new things.
DM: What do you do in the “Legends” show?
PDS: I do a lot of things. I fly, (do) gymnastics, (do) jumps. I participate with the clowns of the show. It is a marvelous show with a lot of magic and a lot of extraordinary things. We are very anxious to come to KC and present the show.
DM: What is your favorite part of the show?
PDS: I love the acts with the dogs, the acts with the animals. The acts with the pigs and the goats are very fun. That’s the part of the show that I love, but I have to say that all of the acts are very good.
DM: Why do you think people should go to the show?
PDS: I recommend the show because it is different. Every two years, we bring something new to the people…. They won’t see what they saw before. The clowns will make you laugh. Everything is new and different. We … (bring) passion to the circus.
DM: What does it mean to you to be part of the circus?
PDS: For me, it’s a feeling (of) … being at home with (my) family. The company supports us … (like a) family. They have helped me a lot. The circus gives us a lot of benefits. It’s like being at home.
DM: Send a message to the … people.
PDS: To all my KC friends, I want to invite you because we are going to come and present “Legends.” It is an unbelievable show for all the family, kids. Everyone needs to come to see this show. You can’t miss it because there’s going to be a lot of attractions for everyone showing the Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey show.
