El 10 de septiembre Josh Earnest, secretario de prensa de la Casa Blanca, dijo que el presidente Obama admitiría más refugiados de Siria para el final de año 2016.
Según el departamento de estado, Estados Unidos ha aceptado 1,393 refugiados de Siria durante este año; el gobierno de Obama espera incrementar ese número a 2,000 al finalizar el año de 2015.
De acuerdo a Earnest el presidente Obama decidió incrementar el número de refugiados de Siria a 10,000 para el año 2016y quiere motivar a otros países para que ayuden en la causa.
“Los Estados Unidos de América seguiremos usando nuestra influencia para influir otros países – de la región y de todo el mundo, incluso países que no tienen relaciones con ese tipo de esfuerzos- para que participen,” dijo.
Earnest también habló acerca de la seguridad del proceso por el cual los refugiados deben pasar. Él dijo que tendrán que hacer el mismo proceso que cualquier persona hace cuando llega a Estados Unidos.
“Los refugiados deben ser investigados por el Centro Nacional de Contraterrorismo, por el FBI,” dijo. “Ellos irán tras un proceso que contiene una base de datos del departamento de seguridad nacional y habrá una recolección de datos biométricos y biográficos.”

United States will admit 10,000 Syrian refugees

On Sept. 10, Josh Earnest, White House press secretary, said that President Obama would admit more Syrian refugees by the end of fiscal year 2016.
According to the State Department, the United States has accepted 1,393 Syrian refugees this fiscal year. The Obama administration expects that number to reach 2,000 by the end of fiscal year 2015.
According to Earnest, President Obama decided to increase the number of Syrian refugees to at least 10,000 by the end of fiscal year 2016 and wants to motivate other countries to help the refugees.
“The Unites States will continue to use our influence to encourage other countries – both in the region and around the world, even countries that are not traditional donors to … (those) kinds of efforts – to ramp up their participation,” he said.
Earnest also discussed the security process refugees would have to go through to be admitted. He said they would go through the same process that anyone arriving in the United States must go through.
“Refugees have to be screened by the National Counter Terrorism Center, by the FBI Terrorist Screening Center,” he said. “They go through databases that are maintained by DHS (Department of Homeland Security), the Department of Defense and the intelligence community. There is biographical and biometric information that is collected about these individuals.”
