De acuerdo con varios reportes, para el año 2050 la súper bacteria podría matar a una persona cada 3 segundos.
Un caso reciente de una súper bacteria fue reportado en Pennsylvania, donde una mujer estaba infectada con la bacteria E.coli. En el momento de prensa, varias localidades de investigaciones en Estados Unidos estaban investigando cómo se infectó la mujer. La mujer de 49 años no ha viajado fuera de Estados Unidos.
El CDC está advirtiendo que aumentará el número de tales tipos de bacterias. Para atender el potencial número creciente de infecciones y muertes, varios fabricantes de medicamentos en Estados Unidos están renovando sus esfuerzos para desarrollar medicinas que luchen contra la bacteria resistente a los antibióticos, esto de acuerdo con un artículo reciente en la revista Fortune.

Healthcare professionals are concerned about a new generation of “superbug” bacteria.
Superbugs are bacteria that evolve and mutate – and are resistant to multiple antibiotics that are available on the market. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) statistics state that antibiotic-resistant bacteria cause 2 million serious infections and 23,000 deaths each year. According to several reports, the superbug bacteria could kill a person every 3 seconds by 2050.
A recent superbug case was reported in Pennsylvania, where a woman was infected with E.coli bacteria. At press time, several research facilities in the United States were investigating how the woman got infected. The 49-year-old hasn’t traveled outside the United States.
The CDC is warning that the number of such types of bacteria will increase. To address the potentially growing number of infections and deaths, various drug manufacturers in the United States are renewing their efforts to develop medicines that fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria, according to a recent article in Fortune magazine.
To prevent getting infected with superbug bacteria, Americans are advised to get their immunization shots and wash their hands when necessary. They’re also advised to avoid taking antibiotics unless a doctor prescribes them.
