On Oct. 10, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City (HCC) honored Latinas who have excelled in fields ranging from business to philanthropy.
That night, the HCC hosted its annual Nuestra Latina Awards at 1200 Main St. in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the HCC, the awards ceremony was established to recognize Latinas who’ve shown leadership, passion and dedication while making an impact in their respective fields.
Lucia Fonseca received the Entrepreneurship/Small Business Award. Maria Villa of Hallmark Cards Inc. received the Business Professional Award. Anna Munguia of Big Brothers Big Sisters was the Philanthropy Award recipient. The HCC named Marissa Tapia Gencarelli the Arts/Culinary/Literature Award honoree.
In other award news, U.S. Army veteran Carolina Vargas received the Law Enforcement and Military Award, Helen Turley was recognized for her contributions to health and wellness, and Dr. Diana L. Restrepo-Osorio of the U.S. Geological Survey was the STEM/Education/Skilled Award honoree.
Freda Mendez Smith received the Clara Reyes Lifetime Achievement Award. Reyes, who died earlier this year, co-founded Dos Mundos.

Cámara de Comercio Hispana presenta los Premios Nuestra Latina 2024
El 10 de octubre, la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de Kansas City (HCC, por sus siglas en inglés) homenajeó a las latinas que se han destacado en campos que van desde los negocios hasta la filantropía.
Esa noche, la HCC organizó sus Premios Nuestra Latina anuales en 1200 Main St. en Kansas City, Missouri. Según la HCC, la ceremonia de premios se estableció para reconocer a las latinas que han demostrado liderazgo, pasión y dedicación al tiempo que han tenido un impacto en sus respectivos campos.
Lucia Fonseca recibió el Premio al emprendimiento/pequeña empresa. Maria Villa de Hallmark Cards Inc. recibió el Premio al profesional de negocios. Anna Munguia de Big Brothers Big Sisters fue la ganadora del Premio a la filantropía. La HCC nombró a Marissa Tapia Gencarelli como la homenajeada del Premio a las artes/la cocina/la literatura.
