Rand Paul: El candidato de las contradicciones

RandPaul

A candidate of contractions

Rand Paul (R), not to be confused with Ron Paul (R), has served as Senator of Kentucky since 2011. Rand has not been involved in politics for too long. Before 2010 his closest involvement had been as a volunteer for his father’s presidential campaigns. In 2010, he successfully ran for Senator of Kentucky. The potential republican presidential candidate has described himself as a conservative and a supporter of the controversial Tea Party.
When it comes to climate change, Rand Paul’s actions do not match his speeches. He told Bill Maher in an interview that he was not against regulation of carbon dioxide but his voting record shows a different story.
Senator Rand Paul continuously insists immigrants aren’t bad people and has numerous times expressed positively about Mexicans. But again his actions contradicts his speech. In June 2011, for example, the senator of Kentucky introduced a bill to end birthright citizenship to children born to illegals. In 2013, he voted against the comprehensive immigration reform because it did not include the completion of the border fence within 5 years.
Rand Paul described himself as “100 percent pro-life,” and has often stated he will always vote for any and all legislation that would end abortion or lead us in the direction of ending abortion. During a recent anti-abortion rally in Las Vegas Paul stated that “the government does have some role in our lives. One of the main roles the government has is to prevent you from harming another individual,” contradicting his endorsement of limited government.
On the other hand, Senator Paul has been consistence on his stance on same-sex marriage. He has stated numerous time that he believes that marriage has a religious connotation and that it is to be entered between a men and a women. Paul believes that there should be a contract available to same sex couple but marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman.
