Welcome tourists! We will talk about Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a city with a vast transcendental history in the country. Its independence was declared on July 4, 1776. The city was founded in the year 1682 is thus one of the oldest in the US and the fifth most populated city in the country with about 1 million and a half residents and almost 6 million in its metropolitan area.
In colonial times, the city of Philadelphia was the capital and also the largest city of the 13 British colonies. In addition, to being the third most populous city of the entire British Empire just behind London and Dublin. Philadelphia means “the city of brotherly love,” since it has been a refuge for religious tolerance. Independence Hall is the building where the history of the country started. The picturesque South Street is all decorated by mosaics made of CDs, bicycles, bottles, pieces of mirror and trash. Something out of the ordinary. But this isn’t the only thing you’ll find in this street, there are a lot of souvenir shops, clothes and much more. Since you’re out there, you should take advantage of the opportunity to go to Jim’s Steaks. The restaurant that prepares the richest cheesesteaks in the city (Geno’s the first place to sell them and Pat’s the first place where cheese was added to the recipe are undoubtedly the most famous).

Conoce Filadelfia
Bienvenidos turistas, en esta ocasión nos toca hablar de una ciudad con vasta historia trascendental en el país, aquí se declaró la independencia el 4 de julio de 1776, por supuesto nos referimos a Filadelfia, Pensilvania. La ciudad fue fundada en el año 1682 siendo así una de las más antiguas de EE.UU., es la quinta ciudad más poblada del país con cerca de 1 millón y medio de habitantes y casi 6 millones en su área metropolitana.
La ciudad de Filadelfia en la época colonial además de ser capital fue la ciudad más grande de las 13 colonias británicas y la tercera ciudad más poblada de todo el Imperio Británico sólo por detrás de Londres y Dublín. El significado de Filadelfia es “la ciudad del amor fraternal”, ya que se deseaba que este sitio fuera refugio de la tolerancia religiosa. Además gracias Benjamin Franklin la ciudad fue uno de los principales centros de ideas revolucionarias, por lo que aquí se firmó el primer tratado de abolición a la esclavitud.
Los vuelos redondos de Kansas a Filadelfia tienen un costo promedio de $300 y podrás encontrarlos de manera directa o a lo sumo con 1 escala. La mejor manera de moverse dentro de la ciudad es en tren ya que éste atraviesa toda la ciudad, sólo deberás prestar bastante atención a la hora de querer comprar tus boletos ya que éstos se venden en quioscos cercanos a las estaciones, la renta de vehículos también es una buena opción desgraciadamente al ser una ciudad con tanta afluencia de vehículos puede ser complicado encontrar estacionamiento. En cuanto a hospedaje lo mejor es buscar una casa o departamento en Airbnb, ya que la mayoría de los hoteles 3 estrellas ofrecen habitaciones por más de $100 la noche y los hoteles 5 estrellas cerca de $300 la noche. Si hablamos de comida no deberás perderte de probar un Philly Cheesesteak que no es más que un delicioso sándwich hecho con gran cantidad de tiritas de carne bañadas con mucho queso fundido ya sea amarillo, blanco o de ambos, sin duda es la comida más tradicional de la ciudad y podrás comerlo junto con alguna bebida y postre por $10 o incluso menos.
A continuación te describo unos de los puntos imperdibles de la ciudad:
Independence Hall, es el edificio en donde se empezó con la historia del país que ahora conocemos, en en 1776 aquí se firmó la independencia del Imperio Británico, pero además unos años más tarde también aquí mismo se firmó la Constitución de los Estados Unidos. Podrás disfrutar de un recorrido por el lugar y conocer la campana que convocó a lo ciudadanos a la lectura de la Declaración de Independencia, también fue utilizada como símbolo del movimiento abolicionista de la esclavitud. Aunque su entrada es gratuita se debe conseguir los boletos con antelación, ya que debido a la gran cantidad de visitantes no se permite la entrada al lugar sin antes haber reservado un lugar.
Ayuntamiento de Filadelfia, es el ayuntamiento más grande de todo EE.UU. y se empezó a construir en 1871 con la intención de ser el edificio más alto del mundo pero poco antes de ser acabado ya era superado por la Torre Eiffel y por el Monumento a Washington. A pesar de eso cuenta con una torre mirador de 156 metros de altura que se puede conocer de manera gratuita, sólo se tiene que reservar dentro del mismo ayuntamiento la hora de entrada con anticipación.
Museo de Arte de Filadelfia, creado en el año 1876 y que cada año recibe cerca de 800 mil visitas cuenta cada año con entre 15 y 20 exposiciones especiales, algunas de las más famosas que se han presentado son la de Paul Cézanne y la de Salvador Dalí. Además de ser famoso ya que en las escaleras que se encuentran en la entrada del edificio principal se filmaron escenas de las películas de Rocky, aquí es donde culmina su carrera Rocky Balboa justo antes de cada una de sus peleas y es por eso que hoy en día esas escaleras ahora son conocidas como los escalones de Rocky y se cuenta con una estatua de bronce en donde si eres fanático de estas cintas deberás tomarte una fotografía.
South Street, esta es una calle muy pintoresca, ya que toda ella está decorada por mosaicos hechos de Cds, bicicletas, botellas, trozos de espejo y distintos desperdicios de basura. Algo sin duda fuera de lo común. Pero no creas que es lo único que encontrarás dentro de esta calle ya que hay una gran cantidad de tiendas de recuerdos, ropa y mucho más. Y ya que andas por ahí deberás aprovechar para ir al Jim’s Steaks, el restaurante que prepara los cheesesteaks más ricos de toda la ciudad (Geno’s primero lugar en venderlos y Pat’s primer lugar donde se le añadió queso a la receta son sin duda los más famosos, pero no por eso los mejores).
