Bienvenidos turistas, en esta edición nos toca hablar de la capital del estado de Utah, uno de los sitios más importantes para practicar el esquí sobre nieve, nos referimos a Salt Lake City. Los colonizadores que fundaron la ciudad fueron los mormones en 1847, la ciudad cuenta con alrededor de 200 mil habitantes mientras que su área metropolitana con casi 1 millón doscientos mil habitantes.
Al momento de la fundación de la ciudad aún permanecía al área del estado de Alta California, México, pero tan solo un año después luego del tratado de Guadalupe Hidalgo, toda esta zona territorial pasó a manos de EE.UU. Para luego ser parte del estado de Utah. Los mormones habían buscado a lo largo del país un punto aislado en donde pudieran practicar en tranquilidad de su religión, luego de que al este del país habían sido perseguidos y expulsados, y aquí encontraron un lugar en donde asentarse y empezar a construir el Templo del Lago salado. SLC fue sede de los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno en 2002.
Los vuelos redondos de Kansas a Salt Lake City tienen un costo promedio de $250 y aunque hay algunos vuelos directos muchos de sus vuelos cuentan con 1 escala, el viaje en vehículo es de casi 16 horas ya que se encuentran a más de 1 mil millas de distancia una ciudad de la otra. En cuanto a comida se refiere, la ciudad cuenta con cerca de 800 restaurantes de donde elegir, en donde los de comida mexicana son de los más destacados, el costo promedio de una comida es de $15 con postre incluido.

Jardín de Esculturas Gilgal, aquí podrás conocer un poco más de lo escrito en las Santas Escrituras de los mormones, ya que además de encontrar esculturas talladas en piedra también se cuenta con poemas y fragmentos literarios de estos libros. Además es un área verde en donde podrás disfrutar de la naturaleza y de manera gratuita. Sin duda un lugar en donde podrás encontrar inspiración para tu día a día.
Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, se trata del templo mormón más grande del mundo y que la construcción llevó casi 40 años. Cuenta con casi 20 mil metros cuadrados de construcción, desgraciadamente no se encuentra abierto al público, así que lo deberás admirar sólo por fuera. Su estilo es neogótico, además cuando realices la visita podrás disfrutar de toda la manzana del templo en donde podrás ver un Jesucristo de 3 metros de altura con apariencia de Jade Blanco y del Tabernáculo Mormón que tiene un particular diseño que gracias a su gran techo de cúpula permite crear el eco suficiente para escucharse dentro de todo el edificio sin la necesidad de un micrófono, si tienes suerte podrás disfrutar de escuchar de uno de los instrumentos musicales más espectaculares del mundo, un órgano de 11,623 tubos.
Museo de Bellas Artes, ubicado en el campus de la Universidad de Utah, cuenta con más de 20 salas en donde podrás admirar un legado cultural antiguo y también clásico. Una de las exhibiciones permanentes cuenta con más de 17 mil artículos entre pinturas y artes decorativas de todo el mundo. El costo de entrada es de $13.

Gran Lago Salado, se trata del 5to lago más grande de todo EE.UU y gracias a él lleva su nombre la ciudad, su nombre se debe a que el grado de salinidad de este es aún mayor al del mar, por lo que es casi imposible ahogarse en este sitio, así que no pierdas la oportunidad de disfrutar de sus aguas para darte un buen chapuzón sin riesgo ahogarte si no sabes nadar muy bien. A la salida se encuentran regaderas que te ayudarán a quitarte el excedente de sal de tu cuerpo.
