The match’s lone goal came in the 13th minute when Galaxy defender Maya Yoshida inadvertently turned a low cross into his own net. Despite not recording a single shot the rest of the match, Sporting KC held firm against a Galaxy side that dominated possession and spent most of the night on the front foot.
LA outshot Kansas City 11-0 and held 71% of the ball, but couldn’t crack Sporting’s organized defense. Goalkeeper John Pulskamp delivered a composed performance, recording two saves and commanding the box with poise, earning his second clean sheet of the season.
The Galaxy, led by head coach Greg Vanney, created multiple chances but lacked sharpness in the final third.
