Kansas Labor Secretary Delia Garcia addresses unemployment during COVID.

Kansas Department of Labor Secretary, Delia Garcia spoke with Dos Mundos about Unemployment insurance benefits: who’s eligible, what’s the application like, and where to go to submit it, among other things.

Note: The Kansas Department of Labor’s IT system has been struggling due to the heavy load placed upon it by enormous claims volumes. The benefits site, www.GetKansasBenefits.gov, is now accessible, however, you may still experience delays when filing your claims.

Important Notice: The CARES Act has been signed into law to provide an additional $600 to eligible recipients of unemployment insurance and a benefit to those not traditionally eligible for unemployment insurance such as self-employed workers, independent contractors, etc. We have begun the process of implementing these vital programs; however, these benefits are not yet available. You will be notified once these benefits are available.
