Frontiers Schools is holding its annual Multicultural Festival.
The festival will run 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday (April 12) at the gymnasium of the Frontiers School of Innovation Middle School, located at 1575 Universal Ave. in Kansas City, Missouri.
The festival will include live music, face painting and balloon artists. But the highlight will be the opportunity to taste traditional foods from multiple countries and cultures, and an array of student performances.
For Jennifer Watson, Frontiers director of communication and outreach, the yearly festival isn’t just about embracing diversity.
“It’s about bringing our school community closer together,” Watson said. “For Frontiers and our neighbors, it’s a way to show we value inclusivity and celebrate every culture.”
Although the event is open to the public, attendees must buy a wristband to enjoy the food and activities. The cost is $15 for adults and $7.50 for kids older than 4. Ages 4 and younger, and participating students enter free of charge.
Watson sees participating in the festival and other events as more than just supporting students and their cultures.
“Pitching in for events like this isn’t just helping out; it’s about uniting, accepting and enjoying each other’s differences, making our community stronger and more vibrant,” she said.

Frontiers Schools organizará el Festival Multicultural
Frontiers Schools está organizando su Festival Multicultural anual.
El festival se desarrollará el viernes (12 de abril) de 5:30 a 7:30 p.m. en el gimnasio de la escuela Frontiers School of Innovation Middle, ubicada en 1575 Universal Ave. en Kansas City, Missouri.
El festival incluirá música en vivo, pintura de caras y artistas con globos. Pero lo más destacado será la oportunidad de probar comidas tradicionales de múltiples países y culturas, y una variedad de actuaciones estudiantiles.
Para Jennifer Watson, directora de comunicación y extensión de Frontiers, el festival anual no se trata sólo de abrazar la diversidad.
“Se trata de acercar a nuestra comunidad escolar”, dijo Watson. “Para Frontiers y nuestros vecinos, es una manera de demostrar que valoramos la inclusión y celebramos todas las culturas”.
Aunque el evento está abierta al público, los asistentes deberán comprar una pulsera para disfrutar de la comida y las actividades. El costo es de $15 para adultos y $7.50 para niños mayores de 4 años. Los estudiantes de 4 años o menos y los estudiantes participantes entran gratis.
Watson considera que participar en el festival y otros eventos es algo más que apoyar a los estudiantes y sus culturas.
