Soon, Greater Kansas City area entrepreneurs will get the chance to swim with the sharks.
In May, ABC’s hit TV show “Shark Tank” will be in the area, seeking new businesses, products or ideas to invest in. Those interested can get their pitches ready for May 15 at the Mazuma Credit Union branch at 7260 W. 135th St. in Overland Park, Kansas.
To participate in the open call, budding entrepreneurs must complete a short application on the official website. They should have the application with them the day of the open call.
Applicants will get to do a minute-long pitch of their business, product or idea to “a member of the casting team,” as described on the official website. Applicants must be 18 or older, or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, if they are a minor.
Wristbands will be distributed 9-11 a.m. Pitches will begin at 10 a.m.
Now in its 16th season, “Shark Tank” is a reality show where aspiring entrepreneurs present their businesses to “the sharks” — five millionaires who’ve turned their ideas into lucrative empires. The goal is for the contestants to convince one of the sharks to invest in their business or idea.
