En el 2003, Héctor Pérez Sevilla llegó a Kansas City, Mo., con una mente abierta y lista para mostrar su arte.
En el 2016, Pérez Sevilla está exhibiendo su arte en una exposición en Kansas City, Mo.
Las obras de Pérez Sevilla están en exhibición, junto con el arte de Luis Merlo, en el evento de Día de los Muertos hasta el 12 de noviembre en la galería de arte de Mattie Rhodes, que se úbica en 915 & 919 W. 17th Street Kansas City, MO 64108. Como artista gráfico, pintor e ilustrador, Pérez Sevilla crea sus piezas únicas de las cosas simples que le rodean.
«Siempre baso mi inspiración con la música,” dijo Pérez Sevilla. «Cuando pinto (o dibujo), escucho música – y de ahí, muchas cosas pueden venir a mi mente.»
Las preferencias de Pérez Sevilla sobre la música son diversas y dependen de su estado de ánimo, a pesar de que se inclina hacia la música pop. Su creatividad podría provenir de una palabra o frase dentro de la letra de una canción.
Su arte también es el resultado de la gente a su alrededor que lo inspiraron y el amor que emiten. Un individuo que Pérez Sevilla da crédito por su dedicación a las maravillas del arte es su tio Nacho.
«(Cuando era niño), siempre me gustaba ir a ver a mi tío Nacho pintar», recordó Pérez Sevilla. «Siempre me había gustado dibujar desde una edad temprana, pero (ver mi tío) me inspiró un poco más a dedicarme (al arte).»
Héctor, crecio en Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, persiguió su interés por el arte, asistiendo la Universidad de Guadalajara, donde estudió los dos temas que más le interesaban: el dibujo y diseño gráfico.
«También me gusta la pintura, la fotografía, la escultura y todos los aspectos del arte, de verdad,” dijo Pérez Sevilla.
Hoy en día, Perez Sevilla crea arte único en su tipo como artista free-lance y diseñador. Él sigue mostrando su dedicación a su trabajo, también es voluntario en varios eventos comunitarios, siempre tratando de difundir el arte.
«Creo que el arte influye al mundo,” dijo Pérez Sevilla. «Expresa muchas emociones, y (el arte) ayuda a muchas personas porque les estás mostrando diferentes aspectos del mundo.»

KC artist draws inspiration from loved ones

In 2003, Hector Perez Sevilla arrived in Kansas City, Mo., with an open mind and ready to showcase his art.
In 2016, Perez Sevilla is showcasing his art in a Kansas City, Mo., exhibit.
Sevilla’s work is on display, along with that of artist Luis Merlo, in the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event through Nov. 12 at the Mattie Rhodes Art Center & Gallery, located at 915 & 919 W. 17th Street
Kansas City, MO 64108. As a graphic artist, painter and illustrator, Sevilla creates his unique pieces from the simple things around him.
“I always draw my inspiration from music,” Sevilla said. “When I paint (or draw), I listen to music – and from that, many things may come to mind.”
Sevilla’s preferences for music are diverse and depend on his mood, although he leans toward Spanish pop music. His creativity might stem from a word or phrase within the lyrics of a song.
His art also is the result of the inspiring people around him and the love they emit. One individual that Sevilla credits for his dedication to the wonders of art is his uncle Nacho.
“(As a boy), I would always go and see my uncle paint,” Sevilla recalled. “I had always liked to draw from a young age, but (seeing my uncle) inspired me a bit more to dedicate myself (to art).”
Sevilla, who grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, pursued his interest in art by attending the Universidad de Guadalajara, where he studied the two subjects that most interested him: drawing and graphic design.
“I also liked painting, photography, sculpture and all aspects of art, really,” Sevilla said.
Today, Sevilla creates one-of-a-kind art as a free-lance artist and designer. He continues to show dedication to his work, and is also a volunteer at various community events, always trying to diffuse art.
“I think art influences the world,” Sevilla said. “It expresses many emotions, and (art) helps many people because you’re showing them different aspects of the world.”
