El lunes 12 de octubre, dos bomberos murieron mientras ayudaban a apagar un incendio en Kansas City, Mo.

De acuerdo a los oficiales de la ciudad, las alarmas de incendio se prendieron alrededor de las 7:30 p.m. el lunes en un edificio de apartamentos en Independence Ave. Al cierre de esta edición, la causa del incendio es incierta.
Los bomberos Larry J. Leggio y John V. Mesh fueron pronunciados muertos después de rescatar a dos residentes del edificio.
“Ellos no murieron en vano,” dijo el jefe de bomberos Paul Berardi durante una conferencia de prensa el martes (Oct 13). “Ellos sacaron a las víctimas del segundo piso por las escaleras antes que la pared colapsara sobre ellos.”
Millones de americanos han expresado sus condolencias a las familias y al departamento de bomberos. El martes, por ejemplo, los jugadores de Kansas City Royals Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas y Eric Hosmer se pusieron una camisa con la palabra “Fuego” en la espalda para mostrar sus condolencias.
Habrá un momento de silencio el miércoles (Oct. 14) en el Kauffman Stadium antes del juego contra Houston de la división de las grandes ligas.


Two KCMO firemen killed while fighting blaze

On Monday (Oct. 12), two firefighters died while helping to fight a massive fire in Kansas City, Mo.
According to city officials, fire alarms went off around 7:30 p.m. on Monday in an apartment building on Independence Avenue. At press time, the cause of the fire remained unknown.
Firefighters Larry J. Leggio and John V. Mesh were pronounced dead after rescuing two residents from the building.
“They did not die in vain,” Fire Chief Paul Berardi during a press conference Tuesday (Oct. 13). “(They) carried them (victims) out of the second floor on ladders before the wall collapsed (on them).”
Millions of Americans have expressed their condolences for the families involved – and for the fire department. On Tuesday, for example, Kansas City Royals players Alex Gordon, Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer wore T-shirts with the word “Fire” on the back to show their condolences.
There will be a moment of silence before Royals’ American League Division Series game with Houston on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at Kauffman Stadium.
