El presidente mexicano Enrique Peña Nieto recientemente firmó un documento para asegurar la protección de los estudiantes mexicanos indocumentados en Estados Unidos, – conocidos como los “Soñadores” – que sean deportados de Estados Unidos hacia México.
“Queremos que la gente sepa que no están solos”, se citó a Peña Nieto en el periódico Excélsior mientras firmaba el documento. “Seguiremos utilizando todos los recursos legales, institucionales y diplomáticos para hacer respetables sus derechos humanos”.
Conocido como el Acuerdo Secretarial 286, el documento que firmó Peña Nieto tiene la intención de simplificar los procedimientos y facilitar la integración de los Soñadores deportados al sistema educativo de México. Una manera es revalidando los cursos que han tomado los Soñadores en Estados Unidos, cuando apliquen sus créditos hacia su educación en instituciones mexicanas. Además, tiene la intención de ayudar a los jóvenes Soñadores que no tienen dominio del español adaptándose al sistema educativo de México.
“Como sociedad y como país, tenemos la obligación ética y moral de dar la bienvenida a los Soñadores con nuestros brazos abiertos”, fue citado a Peña Nieto por el Excélsior, “Debemos tratarlos con cariño, respeto y dignidad”.
Hay más de 700,000 Soñadores que viven en Estados Unidos. De acuerdo al departamento de la presidencia mexicana, durante el 2016, 13,752 niños y adolescentes fueron deportados desde Estados Unidos hacia México. De esos deportados, 9,120 tuvieron que asistir a una institución educativa en México.

Pena Nieto announces plan of protection for deported “Dreamers”

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto (Peña Nieto in Spanish) recently signed a document to ensure the protection of undocumented Mexican students in the United States – a.k.a., “Dreamers” – who are deported from the United States to Mexico.
“I want to let people know that they are not alone,” Pena Nieto was quoted by the newspaper Excelsior as saying while signing the document. “We will keep using all the legal, institutional and diplomatic resources to make their human rights respectable.”
Known as Secretarial Agreement 286, the document signed by Pena Nieto intends to simplify procedures and facilitate the integration of the deported Dreamers into Mexico’s educational system. One way is by validating the courses Dreamers have taken in the United States when applying their credits toward their education at Mexican institutions. In addition, it intends to help young Dreamers who aren’t fluent in Spanish with adapting to Mexico’s educational system.
“As a society and as a country, we have the ethical and moral duties of welcoming with (Dreamers) our arms wide open,” Pena Nieto was quoted by Excelsior as saying. “We should treat them with affection, respect and dignity.”
There are more than 700,000 Dreamers living in the United States. According to the office of the Mexican presidency, during 2016, 13,752 children and teens were deported from the United Sates to Mexico. Of those deportees, 9,120 had to attend an educational institution in Mexico.
