A dead body has been found in Cass County, Mo.
Fox 4 reported Wednesday (April 19) that the body had been found Tuesday night (April 18) near Harrisonville – a town of about 10,000 people that’s also the Cass County seat. The news agency also reported it was a deceased male, but said his name hadn’t been released. It also reported that law enforcement hadn’t found any sign of criminal activity connected to the death.
The discovery of the body comes roughly a few weeks after the discovery of the remains and skulls of two people in Cass County. As the Associated Press (AP) reported in a story posted online by Fox 4, one of the subjects was identified as Raymore resident Jessica Runions, who had been missing since September 2016.
The AP and The Kansas City Star also reported that the other set of remains has drawn attention from relatives of Kara Kopetsky, who went missing in May 2007. They and other news agencies have reported that both females had associations with Kylr Yust.
Yust and Kopetsky dated while she was attending Belton (Mo.) High School. According to The Star, Yust had attempted to abduct Kopetsky in 2007, prompting Kopetsy to file an order of protection against Yust. According to the AP and The Star, Runions and Yust left “a gathering of friends together.” After Runions had vanished, Yust reportedly set her vehicle afire, resulting in his arrest and being charged with starting the fire. At press time, he was still in jail, but hadn’t been tried yet for the incident.
