On Dec. 7, Woodland Public Charity friends and supporters came together at the Johnson County (Kan.) Art and Heritage Center to celebrate 15 years of humanitarian work by the non-profit organization in Guatemala, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico and the Kansas City area.
The gathering also served to recognize work by volunteers. In addition, the Woodland Public Charity Humanitarian Awards were presented to honor two organizations.
The Patantic Center of Education and Health received the International Partner Organization of the Year Award. Located almost three hours northwest of Guatemala City, Guatemala, the center provides direct serves to children and families. During the past seven years, it has been instrumental in providing medical care to more than 4,300 people each year; and 26,500 medical checkups each year, including vision, hearing and diabetes screenings.
The Sisters of St. Francis received the Humanitarian Organization of the Year Award. The organization is known for its Warehouse Project. Working with medical providers such as the St. Luke’s Health System and Children’s Mercy Hospital, the Warehouse Project gathers unused medical supplies and equipment that would otherwise go to waste, and then ships them to places in the world where they’re needed.

Woodland celebra su 15 ° aniversario
El 7 de diciembre, amigos y simpatizantes de Woodland Public Charity se reunieron en el Centro de Arte y Patrimonio Johnson County (Kan.) para celebrar 15 años de trabajo humanitario de la organización sin fines de lucro en el área Guatemala, Panamá, Ecuador, México y Kansas City.
La reunión también sirvió para reconocer el trabajo de los voluntarios. Además, se otorgaron los Premios Humanitarios de Woodland Public Charity en honor a dos organizaciones.
El Patantic Center of Education and Health recibió el Premio a la Organización Socio Internacional del Año. Ubicado casi a tres horas al noroeste de La ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala, el centro brinda servicios directos a niños y familias. Durante los últimos siete años, ha sido fundamental para brindar atención médica a más de 4,300 personas y 26,500 chequeos médicos cada año, que incluyen exámenes de visión, audición y diabetes.
Las Hermanas de San Francisco recibieron el Premio a la Organización Humanitaria del Año. La organización es conocida por su Proyecto de Almacén. Al trabajar con proveedores médicos como St. Luke’s Health System y Children’s Mercy Hospital, Warehouse Project reúne suministros y equipos médicos que no se utilizarán y que luego se enviarán a lugares del mundo donde se necesitan.
