From Aug. 17 to 19, the Kansas City area’s cultural diversity was showcased during the 39th annual Ethnic Enrichment Festival.
The culture of countries from around the world was represented with dancing, food and music at Swope Park.
Formed by the Ethnic Enrichment Commission, the first festival was a one-day event in June 1980 on the Liberty Memorial Mall. The next three festivals were two-day events in August at Washington Square Park. By 1984, the festival needed more space and moved to Swope Park. In 1985, it became a weekend festival and has taken place the third full weekend of August ever since.
The festival is produced in partnership with the Kansas City, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department.
La diversidad es celebrada en el Festival de Enriquecimiento Étnico
Del 17 al 19 de agosto, la diversidad cultural del área de Kansas City se exhibió durante el 39º Festival Anual de Enriquecimiento Étnico.
La cultura de países de alrededor del mundo fue representada por bailes, comida y música en Swope Park.
Formada por la Comisión de Enriquecimiento Étnico, el primer festival de este estilo fue un evento de un día en junio de 1980 en el Liberty Memorial Mall. Los tres festivales siguientes fueron eventos de dos días en agosto en el Washington Square Park. Para 1984, el festival necesitaba más espacio y lo movieron a Swope Park. En 1985, se convirtió en un festival de fin de semana y ha tenido lugar el tercer fin de semana de agosto desde ese entonces.
